Study On The Economic Integration Of Wuhan Urban Agglomeration

With the qickening of economic globalization and regional economic integration, It is becoming the main theme of world economic development in the 21st century that the urban agglomeration and city cluser centered on regional big cities. In 2007, the Wuhan urban agglomeration was approved by the State Council as the "resource-saving and environment-friendly society"comprehensive reform experimental zones.This paper studies on the status, problems and countermeasures of these three areas of Wuhan urban agglomeration from the integration of infrastruce, indrstry and market three perspectives used qualitative and quantitative analysis methods. Finally, through comparative method, It is concluded the crux of the problems that there exists bigger gaps in various aspects between the Wuhan urban agglomeration with Chines big three urban agglomerations and propose collative policy recommendations.The industry integration is the core of Wuhan urban agglomeration’s economic integration. The tolerance is serious between the three industrial structure and tertiary industrial structure of the urban agglomeration. Scale industrial sector has formed regional division of labor, but the advantages of industry dominance is not prominent,and the resource-intensive industries, labor-intensive industries has obvious comparative advantage and low-quality growth in the economy.The city infrastructure is the hub that the people, the mass flow, information flow and capital flow exchanges between cities. The infrastructure resources of Wuhan urban agglomeration were divided unequally and the spatial distribution of passenger and cargo traffic is highly concentrated in the core circle of Wuhan agglomeration. Therefore, it have particular meaning to the development of economy and socity that the Wuhan urban agglomeration gives priority to the development of the transport industry. Market integration reflects the resource allocation efficiency and reasonable utilization in the urban agglomerations. Every regional in the Wuhan urban agglomeration has become more market-oriented, but there is a certain market segmentation and phenomenon of flow barriers compared with developed urban agglomeration in eastern china.There is a gap on total output, per-GDP and per-capita of region, degree of industrial structure optimization,economic developmental ways and the level marketization beween the urban agglomeration and Chinese three big urban agglomerations; The layer structure of Wuhan urban agglomeration is not obvious and boundaries blurred, especially the inner circle and outer circle, and the industrial level is not outstanding between the different circle layer, the urban agglomeration lacks an overall and long-term planning.Therefore, the economic integration of the Wuhan urban agglomeration must be promote industrial distribution, rationalized the industrial structure, formed industry-level gradient; strengthen the construction of the market, improved roreign trade dependence and the actual use of foreign capital and resource allocative efficiency,reasonable utilization; formulated a long-term program of the urban agglomeration, emphasized ecology, human environment and built a harmonious, mutually beneficial, collaborative system of the urban agglomeration.
