Enterprise innovation is a complex progress which integrates internal with external factors, and is also supposed to be emotional. The content and the ways of enterprise innovation can be attributed with enterprise knowledge structure, technical skills, external marketing environment and competition scenario. However compared to those established researches views, we do lack further discussion concerning the influence of organizational culture on enterprise innovation mechanism, so as the focus on Chinese institutional environment. Based on this situation, the discussion on how organizational culture dimensions influence explorative innovation and exploitative innovation would be helpful to dig out whichever enterprise innovation way, and to uncover whether innovation can be operated by building organizational cultures.This dissertation has combined inductive and the deductive methods, as well as qualitative and quantitative research approaches which are based on structural equations and multi case studies as two logical ways. First, by analysing organizational culture dimension and enterprise innovation method operation, measurable variables could be established to adopt large number of samples and statistical tests. Data are collected through questionnaires so theatrical assumptions are to be examined by structural equations, thus giving the theoretical explanation of the influence. Second, based on empirical tests, on one hand it is going to examine the effect on enterprise explorative innovation and exploitative innovation from organizational culture dimensions which are consisted of power distance, uncertainty avoidance, long-term orientation and short-term orientation; on the other hand, the constructional analysis on those dimensions and enterprise innovation mechanism would enrich empirical study conclusions and theoretical intension.Based on above research logics and progress, the research conclusions are divided into three parts:Firstly, we extract the interactive relations between organizational cultural dimensions and enterprise innovation ways.Specifically, power distance, uncertainty avoidance and long-term orientation would have effect on enterprise innovation such as low power distance, low uncertainty avoidance, long-term oriented organizations, and more advantageous on explorative innovation; high power distance, high uncertainty avoidance and short-term oriented organizations tend to develop exploitative innovation.Secondly, we excavate the progress mechanism of how organizational culture dimensions influence innovation ways. The influence of organizational culture to innovation ways contains not only the mediation effect of systematic nature, but also the agency effect of knowledge, organizational and leadership factors.Thirdly, we reveal the influence from progressive prospective. It includes phase characteristics, meaning choosing different innovations according to the development of enterprise innovation phrase.This dissertation has made a breakthrough by discussing enterprise innovation choices from organizational cultural dimensions aspects, rather than just analysing the performance improvement from technical and knowledge aspects. So it will help explaining enterprise innovation contingency with new point of view. It will also contribute the underlying reasons to pick out innovation methods according to different organizational cultures. More than that, this dissertation has explored the process mechanism of how organizational culture dimensions influence enterprise innovation choices which may enrich a deep analysis of that relation. As for the introduction of institutional environment variables, it reflects uniqueness and emotional feature under the influences of organizational culture dimensions in the background of China’s economic transformation period.
