The Cross-border Cooperation And Spatial Development

As the global economy integration advances, cooperation becomes the mostimportant factor in cross-border regions. The development of frontier regions is of greatsignificance to China. However, the experience of cross-border cooperation is stilllacking. What’s more, the task of the cooperation, the role of the trading across bordersand the strategies in regional development also require us to study and research further.Based on the cross-border cooperation in Yunnan Province, the thesis analyzes thestages, characteristics and spatial development of cross-border cooperation.Firstly, from the angle of the comprehensive perspective, on the basis of statisticanalysis and practical investigation, this thesis constructs a cross-border cooperationevaluation system., Then it gives the commonly conclusion and rule in cross-bordercooperation according to results of the analysis in international case study. Thirdly, inorder to prove that the cross-border cooperation in Yunnan Province has greatersignificance in the present age, five aspects of cooperation are analyzed: thecross-border economic zone, the geo-security, the international environment, the naturalsystem, the social connections and the resource development. Finally, according to theresults of the cooperation in Yunnan, the thesis assesses the advantages anddisadvantages of all kinds of cooperation, and discusses the characteristics of spatialpattern in cross-border region, and the core content and construction mode for humansettlements are proposed.Through the studies mentioned above, the article comes to conclusion as follows:1)the cross-border economic zone, the geo-security, the international environment, thenatural system, the social connections and the resource development are five mainreasons of cross-border cooperation, and they are reflected in the existing internationalcases;2) cross-border cooperation is significantly affected by border openness andeconomic development levels, and cross-border cooperation has different emphasis indifferent stages;3)the advantage of border region is uncertain, and the influence onborder urban systems may also present a variety of forms for some reasons;4) thecross-border cooperation in Yunnan Province has greater significance in the present agein five aspects;5)as shown in the result, the economic effects of Yunnan are limited in China-Asean Free Trade Area, but Yunnan has an advantage in resource development,the social connections and the natural system, therefore the strategy of cross-borderregions should be adjusted;6) the human settlements should emphasize infrastructureconstruction, social and cultural contact, ecological connection in the construction ofthe frontier economic area and the cross-border corridors.
