Linguistic multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) and intuitionistic fuzzy MCDM are important parts of the nowsdays MCDM. They have widely application background in many fields and their related research has achieved fruitful results. Intuitionistic linguistic number, which is a generalization of linguistic label based on intuitionistic fuzzy set, can be used to depict the linguistic evaluation for an alternative with respect to a criterion and the confidence level and hesitation degree on such evaluation simultaneously. Comparing to linguistic term and intuitionistic fuzzy number, the intuitionistic linguistic number can express the uncertainty in practical MCDM problems more detailedly and comprehensively. At present, with rspect to the intuitionistic linguistic MCDM (ILMCDM) problems, there is few related research, which cannot meet pragmatic needs. Therefore, these problems are investigatied systematically in this thesis, a series of decision models and methods are proposed, and some examples are given to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the developed methods. The main work of this thesis includes the following aspects:(1) A new score function and a new accuracy function of intuitionistic linguistic number are defined, and a simple approach for the comparison between two intuitionistic linguistic numbers is proposed which is based on these two functions. Subsequently, some new intuitionistic linguistic number arithmetic aggregation operators and intuitionistic linguistic number geometric aggregation operators are defined, and two ILMCDM approaches based on these aggregation operators are proposed under single-person decision situation and group decision situation respectively. (2) The distance measure of intuitionistic linguistic number is defined, and according to the basic principle of VIKOR, an intuitionistic linguistic group decision making method based on extended VIKOR is proposed. Furthermore, a comparative analysis is given.(3) An approach for transforming intuitionistic linguistic number into binary connection number is proposed, and some binary connection number arithmetic aggregation operators and binary connection number geometric aggregation operator are defined. Based on these, with respect to the situation in which the criterion weight information is incomplete certain, two intuitionistic linguistic group decision making approaches based on binary connection number are developed.(4) For the ILMCDM problems in which the criterion values are normally distributed in intuitionistic linguistic numbers, some concepts related to normal intuitionistic linguistic number are defined, and several normal intuitionistic linguistic number aggregation operators are proposed. Furthermore, a group MCDM approach, in which the criterion values take the form of normal intuitionistic linguistic numbers and the criterion weight information is incomplete certain, is developed.(5) With respect to the ILMCDM problems in which the criterion values are log-normally distributed in intuitionistic linguistic numbers, some concepts related to log-normal intuitionistic linguistic number are defined, and some log-normal intuitionistic linguistic number geometric operators are presented. Subsequently, a dynamic MCDM approach, in which the criterion values take the form of log-normal intuitionistic linguistic numbers and the argument information is given at different periods, is developed.(6) The ILMCDM problems with aspiration levels on criteria are investigatied. Firstly, an ILMCDM method based on regret theory is presented. In this method, the psychological behaviors of regret aversion of decision makers are considered, the aspiration levels on criteria are chosen as reference points, and the ranking of alternatives can be determined by calculating the comprehensive perceived values of alternatives. Furthermore, an ILMCDM method based on prospect theory is presented. In this method, the psychological behaviors of loss aversion of decision makers are considered, the aspiration levels on criteria are also chosen as reference points, and the ranking of alternatives can be determined by calculating the comprehensive prospect values of alternatives.(7) The ILMCDM problems in which the criteria are in different priority levels are studied. Firstly, some intuitionistic linguistic number prioritized aggregation operators are defined, and an approach is proposed for solving group MCDM problems in which the criterion values take the form of intuitionistic linguistic numbers and the criteria and decision makers are in different priority levels. Furthermore, two intuitionistic linguistic number hybrid prioritized aggregation operators are presented based on the intuitionistic linguistic number prioritized aggregation operators, and an ILMCDM approach considering both the priority levels of criteria and the importance degrees of the given intuitionistic linguistic numbers themselves is developed.
