Object:This articles study on the traditional Chinese medicine"tan"for theory, history, contemporary clinical application and medical record..Method: We take the verified history document, earranged literaturs and statistical analysis to study on the"Tan"theory.Result: The study summarize the"tan"of Chinese traditional medicine on etiopathogenisis, symptom and physical sign.And arrange the history of"tan", it was first recorded in QIN-HAN period, formed in JIN-TANG period, developed in SONG-YUAN period,and was prosperous in MING-QING period. The study sumed up the theory of the different docters in the medical records.The research arranged a sum of traditional Chinese medicine literature, comprehended the"tan"theory growth. And reviewed the therapeutics theory on the question and severe case. These data could draw off significance, objective, content and focal point for tan theory developing in contemporary. This disquisition based on the investigation of 51 books of the Chinese traditional medicines had published from the year of 1234 to 1770, which alleviation of clinical symptoms of Tan. In addition, 926 clinical cases about"tan"had been selected from approximately 15800 clinical cases.The study analyzed the herbs which alleviation of clinical symptoms of"Tan", and discussed the class, character, channel-tropism, taste of the herbs. the study also analyzed the clinical cases about"tan".Conclusion: This study based on the lots of docters experientics in ancient times and contemporary,summarized the Tan theory,which could the embodiment of conceive in clinical thought of the concept wholism, treatment determination based on syndromediferentiation and treatment of the diferent diseases with the same therapeutic principle.
