The human cranio-mandibular-facial structure possesses significances on function and aesthetics and so on. To qualitative or quantitative measure and analyse cranio-mandibular-facial three-dimensional morphology are the important means for improving diagnosis and treatment levels of cranio-mandibular-facial deformities, and is an essential prerequisite for doing researches on surgery simulation, three-dimensional morphology predication and treatment effect evaluation. At present, the cranio-mandibular hard-tissue morphological measurement and analysis are limited basically into two-dimensional scope with lateral and frontal cephalograms. The lateral cephalogram can provide with informations on the posteroanterior and vertical directions, and is enough for the common symmetrical cranio-mandibular deformities. but has not any value to the serious asymmetrical deformities. The frontal cephalogram can provide with informations on the horizontal and vertical directions. but can not indicate the problems on posteroanterior direction. There is always a limitation to measure and analyse a three-dimensional object by the two-dimensional method. There were some reports about three-dimensional measurement and analysis of cranio-mandibular morphology by three-dimensional CT. but the method could not be used extensively because of the problems on complex equipments, expensive price and great x-ray do(?)es to patients. In the field of three-dimensional measurement and analysis of cranio-facial soft-tissue morphology there were some researches about stereophotogrammetry, moire topography and holographic measurement. These methods could not be used extensively also because of complex equipments, unconvenient manipulation and limited precision. The new methods for measuring and analysing the three-dimensional morphologies of cranio-mandibular-facial hard and soft tissues were developed. and were applied in several clinical fields. The thesis consists of four parts.1. The study of a new three-dimensional cephalometric method...
