With the transformation of modern medical model is the realization that except the traditional chemical, physical, and biological hazards, there are many new risk factors at the workplace, including ergonomic factors, social-psychological factors and so on. These risk factors can impair workers' health and the quality of working life. In general, the influences of ergonomic exposure on workers are comprehensive interactions among mechanical factors, psychological factors, and environmental factors. Long term exposure to ergonomic risk factors can result in Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD), decline of work productivity, and occupational accidents. Therefore, it is of great importance to properly evaluate ergonomic exposure at workplace for preventing MSD, improving work ability, and reducing occupational accidents.Ergonomic exposure evaluation has been studied and practiced for many years in the developed countries. However, there are a few studies on ergonomic exposure in our country. Most domestic studies on the evaluation of ergonomic exposure are based on experimental data or direct quotation of foreign methods. The differences of culture background and the human dimension between Chinese and Occidental adult are not considered. Up to now, there are no practicable methods for evaluating ergonomic exposure comprehensively in the Chinese situation.
