A number of molecular biological studies showed that the genes changes of the cell play a critical role in the initiation and progression of cancer. The cloning of the cancer associated genes and the study on their structure and function can not only explain the carcinogenesis principle, but also have the important signifcance in gene diagnosis, therapy and prevention of cancers. Lung cancer is one of the common malignant tumors. Its high incidence and low survival rate stimulated various investigation and study. Now, it is thought that the multiple oncogenes and antioncogenes alterations were closely related to carcinogenesis of lung cancer. The developing gene therapy based on the knowledge has thrown a hopeful light on lung cancer cure.In order to search the new lung cancer associated genes, to deepen the understanding of the pathogenesis of lung cancer, and to seek the new target genes for lung cancer gene therapy, we constructed a cDNA expression library of human lung cancer cells, from which, the 6 positive cDNA clones were obtained by immuno screening with the specific MAb prepared previously by ourselves. The sequence of cDNA clone with the largest insert was analyzed. The results showed that the cDNA clone has no sequence homology to any known gene sequence published by GenBank. The expression of the cDNA clone in the transfected NIH3T3 cells and the effects on the growh characteristics of the transfectant were studied.
