Objective To evaluate the repairing effect of the critical sized calvarial defects of goats and onlay implant on skull of goats by PLGA/TCP porous scaffolds prepared by low-temperature rapid prototyping technology loaded with rhBMP-2, and find a new active artificial bone for clinic application. Methods According to CT data of the calvarial critical size bone defect in goats, Individual PLGA/TCP porous scaffolds were manufactured by low-temperature deposition rapid prototyping technology and loaded with rhBMP-2. Both the PLGA/TCP scaffolds and the PLGA/TCP/rhBMP-2 composites were observed under scanning electron microscopy. These scaffolds and composites were used to repair the 22mm calvarial full thickness bone defects of goats. Twenty four China goats were equally randomized into 2 groups (inlay implant group and onlay implant group). A 22mm round defect was created at the middle of the skull in 18 goats of inlay implant group. The defect was repaired with PLGA/TCP/rhBMP-2 artificial bone inlay...
