Acupuncture therapy, accepted widely as " green therapy " which is safe,eutherapeutic, economic and convenient,has been largely proved effective on trigeminal neuralgia.This experiment is divided into three parts. The first part is that thirty wistar rats are divided into three groups at random. The first group is negative group(without any treatment).The second group is carbamazepine treatment group.The third group is electroacupuncture treatment group. From observing the attach number of TN of the model animals, the duration of the spontaneous reaction and the positive time of the induced response draw a conclusin.The result show that electroacupuncture differed significantly from the negative group in number(P<0.01) but slightly different from that of carbamazepine (P>0.05).The sequential trial has indentified that electroacupuncture could reduce the attack number of TN of the model animal,shorten the duration of spontaneous reaction, lighten the degree of the attack TN of the model animals. Electroacupuncture is a effective treatment in TN.The second part is that forty wistar rats are divided into four groups at random.The first group is sham operation group(trigeminal nerve not injured).The second group is negative group(without any treatment).The third group is carbamazepine treatment group.The fourth group is electroacupuncture treatment group. Establish theanimal model with trigeminal neuralgia in rat. Measure the concentration of substance P and |3 -EP of blood by radioimmunological analysis.Result:The concentration of SP in electroacupuncture treatment group is significantly lower than that in negative group(P<0. 01). The concentration of SP in electroacupuncture treatment group and carbamazepine treatment group has no significant difference(P>0. 05). The concentration of ï¿¡ -EP in electroacupuncture treatment group is significantly higher than that in sham operation group and negative group (P<0.01).The ï¿¡ -EP in electroacupuncture treatment group and carbamazepine treatment group in not sigficantly different (P>0.05).Conclusions:Electroacupuncture may reduce the content of substance P mediating the nociceptive signals and increase the content of |3 -EP having analgesic opioid reactive substance. In the end,from this way relieve trigeminal neuralgia.The three part is that thirty wistar rats are divided into three groups.The first group is negative group;the second group is carbamazepine treatment group;the third group is electroacupuncture treatment group.The recording electrode is put in the right masseter muscles and the effect of electroacupuncture on basic pain threshold of the reflex and its latency are observed. Results:The latency lengthened and basic pain threshold increased begin with after electroacuputure, reach peak at about 30min,remain high level from 30~60min and begin falling at 60min. The wave has not been in negative group and carbamazepine treatment group but in latency and basic pain threshold there are significantly different betweenthem (P<0.01).At 30min contrast with the carbamazepine treatment group,the latency of the electroacupuncture treatment group is longer and the basic pain threshold of it is higher (P<0.05). Conclusions: Electroacupuncture have obvious effect on relieving the trigeminal neuralgia.
