The role of chemokine in the pathogenesis of endometriosis remains elucidated. Chemokine exerts its biological function only by binding to its receptor, which is much complicated. That is a reason why it is difficult to explain its role exactly. It is not comprehensive to focus only on the effect of chemokine but not on its receptor on endometriosis, and it can not figure out the true role of chemokine in the etiology of endometriosis. It may be propitious to catch on the pathogeny of EMT by investigating the chemokine and its receptors together, but there are few article that explores the role of chemokine receptor in the pathophysiology of EMT, to our knowledge. In this article, we aim to evaluate the expression of all eighteen chemokine receptors in the normal endometrium, eutopic endometrium and endometriotic foci in the level of mRNA and protein by means of RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry respectively, and to probe into the expression pattern of chemokine receptors in endometriosis. The endometrial tissues were obtained from 18 patients who have benign gynecological disease other than endometriosis and 22 endometriosis patients, who underwent laparoscopy or laparotomy from Sep. 2003 to Jan, 2005 in Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Fudan University. The samples were collected by sharp curettage of endometrium and peel of the linement of ovarian endometriomas. RT-PCR was used to determine the mRNA expression of 18 chemokine receptors, GAPDH was used as the intra control.According to the results of RT-PCR, the hyper-expressed chemokine receptors, CCR4, CCR5, CCR6, CCR8, CCR9, CXCR1 and their corresponding ligands IL-8, RANTES, 1-309, MIP-la and MIP-1β were choused to immunohistochemistry analysis of the formalin-fixed paraffin-embeded sections. The chemokine receptors, CXCR4 and CXCR6 were universally transcribed in...
