This paper discuss the therapeutic effect of the use of SHANJIKELI in treating the active infection of human cytomegalovirus of pregnant women and the influence on of fetus. Futhermore, it discuss the mechantsm antiviral action of SHANJIKELI in vitro from cell and molecule level. This is based on the clinical study and the experiment in vitro cell culture and the application of advanced research way. The results of clinical study of applying SHANJIKELI to cure 20 pregnant women who are infected with active human cytomegalovirus shown that the therapeutic effect in HCMV- IgM HCMV DNA negative conversion and in reducing abnormal pregnancy and uterine transmission is good. The results of experiment in vitro cell culture shown that the maximal tulerance dosage of SHANJIKELI is 750 g/ml, the minimal therapeutic concentration is 3 g/ml and the therapeutic index is 250. The above data reveals that SHANJIKELI can resist HCMV. In situ end-labeling, it is shown that the apoptotic cell detection of group of SHANJIKELI is much lower than the group of virus infection. In situ hybridizetion technigues and through image analysis, contrasting with group of virus infection,it is shown that bcl-2 gene expression in human embryo lung fibroblasts of group is much higher and Fas gene expression is much lower. The above findings reveal that SHANJIKELI can resist the infection of HCMV and is available to inhibit the occurrence of apoptotic cell dectection which HCMV caused. Finally, the investigation also shown the scientific demonstration for the applying of SHANJIKELI in treating HCMV active infection especialy in gestational period.
