The great objectives of building a total well-being society set at the 16th Party Congress in the next decades comprise of increasing people's development opportunities, enhancing people's capabilities and improving people's living conditions. Realization of all these goals depends on human with the high quality capital. Human capital is the chief determinant of economic development. As new endogenous economic growth theory suggests, physical capital, labor and natural resource, technology and human capital are the real resources of economic growth, and human capital is the dominant determinant for economic growth. Investment in health and education are two t important ways of improving the quality of human capital. But in the past decades, the main effect of education in improving quality of human capital has been emphasized, for most studies suggested that, as an important form of human capital, education can contribute to economic growth. The conclusions of studies make profound impact on public policy making in many countries. The importance of education investment has been well realized, and more and more efforts have been taken to invest in education and develop education.Also the opinion that education could improve quality of human capital has been supported by many evidences. However, the important economic significance of health improvement has not been fully recognized. There is certain lacking recognition of significant of health improvement by government, social organizations, and individuals, which could impair economic development in the long term. Meanwhile, due to recognition lacking of health investment, the importance of healthdevelopment could not been understood, which may have a negative effect on health status, and finally on healthy economic development.Actually, health service, health status, and economic growth are interactive. It is important for policy making and to understand relationship between them. So the main objectives of this study is to explore the relationship among health service, health status and economic growth, especially focus on the contribution of health system, health to economic growth by theorenical and case analysis methods, furthermore, to demonstrate the efforts of health service and health on economic development, the mechanisms and realization pathways, the importance of health services, and to clarify health investment for economic growth. ObjectivesThe main purpose and objectives of the study is?The roles and position of health in economic growth by analyzing the effect of health on economic growth, operations mechanisms , main pathways of realization, and relevant factors, to interpret the importance of investing in health.(2) The roles of health services in health improvement by analyzing the effect of health services on health improvement, operations mechanisms , main pathways of realization, and relevant factors, to clarify the importance of health service for improvement of people's, and urge the government to pay close attention to investing in health services.(3) To interpret the importance of health services for economic growth, clarify the important position of health service in social-economic construction, and proper sustainable and harmonious development of economy by analyzing the effect of health service on economic growth, operating mechanisms, main pathways of realization, and relevant factors.MethodsThe combination of theory with case analysis was the main research method.(1) To explore the contribution of health to economic growth, a production function model of economic growth is used. In the function, the input factors arehuman capital, labor, physic capital, and the output factor is the GDP per person per year. While estimating the contribution of all the input factors to output, two-stage regression is applied.(2)To analyze the contribution of health service to health improvement, both health production function model and avoidable mortality analysis, were used.
