A STUDY OF ZHANG ZHONGJING'S CONCEIT AND METHOD OF HOW TO PRESERVE HEALTHZhang Zhongjing was not only a distinguished physician, but also a great master of how to preserve health. In the preface of the book "Shanghai Zabing Lun" (Treatise on Cold-Induced Febrile Diseases) Zhang attached great importance to preservation of health and he severely criticized those who had not cherish life but hurt it He emphasized the significance of cultivating the primary qi and avoiding the invasion by pathogenic factors , which has been recognized as the basic principle in preservation of health, ha his publications he expounded his idea of preservation of health with the principles and methods.It is a pity that his concept of preservation of health has not been fully studied in history , so it is essential to make an exploration into the principle and method of preservation of health.In the preface of the paper the importance of this topic has been talked about Preservation of health points to cherishing life no matter what methods are adopted to improve the life quality. The study of preservation of health is a cultural treasure of the Chinese nation and world as well.In the second part of the paper the author tries to deal with Zhang's concept and methods of preservation of health . in ten aspects, which are summed in the following context.(1) Proper diet: Chinese diet lays stress on its four properties and five flavors , and its ascending and descending action, which is considered as a macro-method, while Western food puts stress on its chemical components, which is thought as a micro-method. According to the philosophy of Chinese medicine foods are selected in light of different seasons, localities and individuals., The five flavors should be regulated and too much and too less food intake are improper.(2) Adaptation oneself to different weather and environment People should adapt themselves to the changes of environment and weather. "Yang is preserved in spring and summer, and yin in autumn and whiter".(3) Keeping away from pathogenic factors: Zhang said " People may die from the attack by pathogenic wind". It is essential to avoid pathogenic wind for anyone who wants to keep fit .(4) Regulating mental activities: Zhang advised people not to seek fames and-4-money. When one is in a peaceful mind state, he may live longer by keeping away diseases.(5) Giving love to others: Zhang pointed out that "if you cannot love and understand others, you cannot love and understand yourself." Love showed to others means you are satisfied with your life and you can lead a longer life.(6) Daoyin-tuina: "When you feel heaviness of the limbs , you have to do daoyin-tuina to remove obstruction from the nine orifices, which is also the concept of prevention first.(7) Sexual activities: Zhang said "man should enjoy sexual activities , which is a part of life, but sexual indulgence does harm to health."(8) Observing laws: Government laws and Taoist, Confucian and Buddhist commandments must be observed, which is also included in the concept of preservation of health.(9) Women's care: For women it is essential to take care of them in the periods of pregnancy and post-childbirth. Their other diseases are greatly concerned too. Health care in the menopause period is rather important.(10) Prevention first: It includes two parts ?preventing diseases and preventing progress when one falls ill. In this part it is discussed about "prevention first", "early treatment", "preventing deterioration" and "avoiding complications".In the third part of the paper the value of preservation of health is discussed.
