| Signage system is the media of information communication between people and urban space.The world of today is full of international communication and theme events. This will not only change city space density and pattern, but also change the component of signage system objects in event period. In this context, this paper attempts to study and propose urban space signage system for theme event and their characteristics, design processes and methods.Starting with the basic theoretical research of urban space signage system, this paper focus on the cross area of theme events and signage system theories, such as cognitive psychology, wayfinding behavior and transportation forecasting.With the application of environmental psychology, semiotics, communication etc., this paper focus on the the relationship between urban space—theme event—people to develop basic theory, the characteristics and design process of signage system for theme events.Using the method of comparative study, the second part from two perspectives to analysis. First is the comparison of urban space signage system and the signage system for theme events. Second is the comparison of East and West, the difference of urban space pattern, information communication symbol and cognitive habits. Through comparative study we could find the key points of universal design for signage system.In the year 2010 World Expo will be hold in Shanghai. The third part of this paper is empirical study for the research above. Using the research results to the world Expo signage system design of 2010 Shanghai, then to strengthen the research practicality and pragmatism, and test the results. |
