With the accelerating of global economy and rapid development of thecross-industry, cross-region and cross-national allied virtual enterprises, theenterprise environment has undergone profound changes. Many complex productsare designed by the collaborative of many designer and other personnel formdifferent places, therewith, the Distributed Collaborative Design emerges as thetimes required and attracts much attention. The rapid development of computertechnology and information technology, information engineering and networktechnology especially, provide conditions for the improving of production designlevel, which lead to a quiet great progress of manufacture in DistributedCollaborative Manufacture and informatization Management, greatly improve thedesign agility and production efficiency and impel the exploitation mode of modemmachine products develop unceasingly.At the same time, the dynamic renovating global market competition thatenterprises face makes them adjust and change the design mode of their productiondesign. When the product is designed and developed jointly, the exigent problem theenterprises have to face is how to make the interaction and sharing of informationeffectually. Therefore, the visualization management and the collaborative design ofproducts caused by the combination of visualization and information technologybased on network collaborative design become the focus of the research work.On the basis of analysis of both the domestic and foreign research results ofnetwork distributing collaborative design and modem product development mode, anovel product data management mode, CVPMS (Collaborative VisualizationProduction Development System), which is based on the cooperative design andvisualization technology, is proposed in this paper. This paper also analyzes the keytechnology of mechanical product data management technology, cooperative visualization development and the implementing management flat; studies therealization method of 3D virtual modeling based on network, the informationvisualization and its implement method in product cooperative development and theknowledge description ways based on XML and so on, and then, proves thefeasibility and the practicability of the CVPMS by the development and preliminaryapplication of a prototype system, which gives a useful research on resource sharingand interactive technology under the advanced manufacturing mode. The mainresearch results and their characteristics are shown as fellow:1.) After analyzeing various advanced manufacturing mode synthetically andaiming at the traits and present status of manufacturing enterprises, the applicationforeground of distributed collaborative development technology based on thenetwork condition and information visualization technology in productsdevelopment and manufacturing field is discussed. The paper points out that theintroduction of visualization technology in the collaborative products developmentare useful and have foundation in application, at the some time, some technicaldifficulties are discussed and a new idea about realizing network visualizationinformation management which is used for cooperative products development isproposed.2.) Data management technology of mechanical products has been discusseddetailedly and the latest data management technology has been synthesized. Theplatform scheme of the cooperative products's visualization development andmanagement is built up, some key technology used for constructing platform areshown as follows: implement methods for interaction frame of virtual scene;implement methods and technology of information visualization used incollaborative products development; methods of XML-based knowledge and so on.The paper describes and discusses the methods of XML-based knowledge andpointes out the detailed ways.3.) The realization ways of network-based 3D virtual modeling are analyzedand the differences between X3D and VRML are compared, which are two familiarlanguage of network 3D virtual modeling discusses the construction method ofvirtual reality dynamic scene and network product virtual modeling method. Thetypes of virtual reality system, the grammar, coding mode and modeling ways ofX3D language are analyzed. Some network virtual products modeling examplebased on X3D are presented.4.) Information visualization technology and engineering visualizationcomputer assistant design (VCAD) are discussed detailedly. The filiation andresearch development of information visualization, the differences betweeninformation visualization and knowledge visualization and the applicationforeground of visualization have been discussed detailedly. Visualization productsinformation management model based on the X3D and WEB is presented. Related JAVA technology is discussed. A manufacturing information managementvisualization model and its application example are presented.5.) The mechanical products design knowledge representation model (PKRM)and the acquirement methods (PKAM) are introduced detailedly, and an XML-baseddesign knowledge's representation method are proposed, then this method is appliedon the product variant design and conception design. The methods and theory ofproduct variant design and conception design is discussed detailedly, finally,examples are presented.6.) Transformer tank and its manufacture environment are used as researchobjects, and the network-based cooperative visualization product developmentsystem main structure is put forword, the relevant software has been developed,discusses some specific realization methods of this system on the basis of therunning examples.
