The 20th Century is the time that the human beings created unprecedented prosperous materials civilization but also brought serious damages on the ecological environment and natural resources on the earth. The conflicts between city, architecture and environment have become more and more severe. Continuous environment depravation and fast drying-up of un-recycled resources have become urgent problems that affect the survival of human beings. They also brought unpredictable pressure and obstacles for the development of cities themselves. With the severity of ecological crisis and resources problem in the world,'sustainable development'and ecological thoughts have become a frontier problem under extensive attention in Chinese and foreign urban design.The studies on urban sustainable development rely on how to introduce ecological principles to the urban design and planning? How to reduce the influences and damages on natural environment? How to save resources to the maximum and rebuild the biological comfort of people on the basis of combination of natural environment and bio-climatic conditions so as to obtain more environmental comfort with less energy and materials cost? The urban design idea based on bio-climatic conditions has significant theoretical meaning and applicable values for the developing countries that do not have advanced economic conditions but possess multiple climate features. Based on the aforesaid recognition, under the background of'sustainable development', we try to explore the sustainable development view for the future city from the view of green urban design based on bio-climatic conditions.The dissertation has six chapters, in which:Chapter I: On the basis of understanding and grasping the basic conception, connotations and features of green urban design based on bio-climatic conditions, put forward the basic theoretical framework of bio-climatic design, i.e. holistic associated principle, system stratum principle, natural grads principle, technical adaptation principle and human beings demand satisfied principle, etc. These are also the outlines and directions of the dissertation.Chapter II: Taking the historical process as mainstream, the dissertation carries out brief overview and summary on the ideas, methods and types on urban design combining natural geography, bio-climatic conditions in farming time, industrial time and after-industrial time. The purpose is to reveal the basic stream and trend of its development and evolution.Chapter III: Starting from holistic associated principle, through comprehensive utilization of natural rules, traditional intelligence and modern technology and excellent planning ideas, the chapter carries out analysis and discussion on all affective factors and their functions concerning the city environment, and submits relevant planning countermeasures.Chapter IV: Based on natural grads principle and the principle of biological adaptation and compensation, through conformity and application of bio-climatic element, natural element and artificial element, a set of urban design ecological strategies and methods that adapts to different dimensions and climate conditions will be formed.Chapter V: On the basis of analyzing present city management system and its existing problems, reasonable suggestions are given to the operation and management of the urban design ecological strategies, and brief expatiations are given to the introduction and application of thecomment indexes and models as well as new technologies in design and management.Chapter VI: Combining topic practice and case studies, rationality and operation ability of theories and methods shall be inspected and analyzed in practice.At last, in the conclusion part, the contents are concluded and analyzed horizontally and vertically.The whole dissertation has about 175000 Chinese characters and over 150 illustrations.
