The optimization of process-assembly-type production systems are studied in this dissertation. It includes four parts. In the first part, the issues have been discussed, which included the characteristics of process-assembly-type production system, the theory and technology of modeling and optimization for the production systems, The status quo and development of optimization algorithms and their applications in the production system optimization. In the second part, production systems layout are studied which Included facilities layout, machines layout, the problem of irregular shapes of department result from traditional layout model. The approaches to determine distance among departments are discussed. The space-filling curve and the method of fixed row layout are used to reduce the searching spaces. The methods of two-stage layout and fixed row layout are used to solve the problems of irregular shape of departments. It is assumed that department area to be variable within some extent for implementing the exchange of department locations with different area among different floor. The traditional machines layout models also are analyzed and the new objective function model is developed which is to minimize the backtracking and transverse transport. The computerized facility layout system is developed for the purpose of analysis. The intelligent optimization algorithms are used to search the optimal layout and improved the layout effectively. In the Third part, the dispatching problems are studied which include the single-stage and multi-stage flow-shop. The multi-objective functions models has been developed. The Genetic algorithms, Simulated Annealing algorithms and Heuristic search algorithms are used in operation scheduling. The scheduling results of different dispatching rules are compared and analyzed. The effect of process time deviation on dispatching rules and scheduling performance are studied by simulation. The operation dispatching for job-shop also are studied in this part. The conclusion has been obtained that is the possible numbers of process-sequence in static and dynamic dispatching are much lesser than traditional ones. The problems are analyzed which include the invalidation probability of dispatching rules result from process time deviation, the sensitivity of performance of dispatching to the process time deviation. The dynamics dispatching rules are studied for stochastic operation scheduling systems. By simulating operation scheduling systems, the effects of process time deviation on dispatching rules and scheduling performances are...
