This paper focuses on theory of parametric modeling for dynamics of flexible multi-body systems with its applications in artillery dynamic simulation. The main contents are included as follows: The first, modeling theory and numerical method are probed for dynamic analysis of flexible multi-body systems. Elastic deformation is described by using of mode expansion method. Dimensions of dynamic model are reduced by means of modal reduction based on finite element methods and the criterion of inertia completeness. An example of dynamic simulation for the self-propelled gun systems with caterpillars is given to illustrate the application of the proposed methods. The predictive results are analyzed in detail. The second, the parametric technique is introduced into the development of parametric software on general purpose for dynamic simulation of gun launching. Automatic modeling formulas are the critical techniques of software development which include automatic identification of system configuration, automatic determination of coordinate frames and degrees of freedom, automatic derivation of kinematic formulas, automatic application of load , automatic generation and solution of motion equations and so on. The third, kinetic stability of trawler system with howitzer and dynamic response of wheel self-propelled gun at different firing line, slope, firing angle and propellant charge are studied on the developed software platform. The effectiveness of modeling and confidence level of simulation are increased by using of parametric and automatic software on gun dynamic simulation . The fourth, a dynamic model of gun flexible multi-body systems is set up in which the motion of projectile in bore is accounted . The equations of internal ballistics are formulated, in which the motions of gun responses are considered, and the forces acted on projectile are analyzed. The responses of gun multi-body systems are obtained by solving the differential equations of motion and equations of internal ballistics.
