Double-Ring Reducers (DRR) is widespread planetary gearing with fewer difference of number of teeth. There has been much research accomplishment about ring reducer. But contrast with other types of ring reducers, DRR is fewer studied, especially; there is no research report about the fault diagnosis of DRR.This paper is based on research project Design Theory and Method of High-Efficiency Transmission System with Multi Dynamic Source, the sub project of Basic Research on Energy Conservation of Mechanical/Hydrodynamics and Novel Type Transmission which is supported by National Fund of Nature and Science (Authorize number: 59835040). This research is also supported by National High-tech R&D Program (863 Scheme) Remote and Intelligent On-line Diagnosis System for Large Rotational Machinery (Authorize number: 2001AA423200). In this paper, based on the analysis of structure and work theory, the writer designed and developed a novel type DRR. By investigation of design, kinematics analysis and fault diagnosis of the novel type DRR, the writer puts forward the efficient solution or theory basis for the existing problem in the reducer, such as dynamic imbalance, intense vibration and noise, draw-off heat, etc.The major works of this thesis are listed as follow:Expatiated the basic theory of DRR, then analyzed the structure and kinematics characteristics of single-ring reducer, double ring reducer, three ring reducer and four ring reducer in existence (patent number: ZL89213292.2, ZL91230087.6, CN85106692.5, ZL93239404.3). Considering their deficiency, developed a novel type double ring reducer, and manufactured a model for experiment. The model's new structure is authorized by National New practical patent (patent No: ZL 01247113.5).Considering manufacturing errors and assembling influence, analyzed the transmission error of inner teeth meshing, established finite element model of inner teeth contact of plate, which takes error into account. And carry out finite element analysis under different rating power by using the established models, therefore, discussed the influence of error and variable load on contacting teeth, and pointed out vibration factors caused by unbalanced load.Established finite elements of major parts and reducer system, and carried out theoretical mode analysis of the system.Integrated the intelligent fault diagnosis system. Based on the system, independently developed the interface program between intelligent reasoning machine and data engine (Dynamic Link Library, DLL), accomplished acquisition and transforming of fault characteristic signal, realized long-distance transmission of fault signal through network. Established the Remote and Intelligent On-line Diagnosis System for Rotational Machinery.Analyzed the vibration characteristics of DRR; discussed the causes of faults and different types of faults, studied the faults characteristics and faults modules. By graphical intelligent fault diagnosis platform, established reasoning flow chart of bend fault of eccentric shaft and tooth error fault of plate.Measured structural noise and air-borne noise of the model under different condition, as well as picked up and analyze the vibration signal. By usage of the Remote and Intelligent On-line Diagnosis System for Large Rotational Machinery, measured the bend of eccentric shaft and tooth error of plate, which validates the reasoning chart flow for faults of DRR.Four innovative accomplishments are gotten in this paper:Designed and manufactured a novel type double ring reducer, the model's new structure is authorized by National New practical patent (patent No: ZL 01247113.5)Integrated the intelligent fault diagnosis system.
