ABSTRACTThe mechanism of feature mapping among multiple domains and its application are studied systematically and deeply in this paper. The new methods are presented.With the analysis of definition and classification of feature and the five factors effecting feature modelling, a level model of part feature information for CE is presented. The model play an important role for product modelling.The mechanism and model of feature mapping among multiple domains for CE are given. Based on the general principle of feature mapping, a integrated information model of product is presented, which is conveniently used to fulfill feature transformation among different application domains. An example of is analyzed on the mechanism of feature mapping in domains between product design and manufacturing.The theory of Medial Axis Transform(MAT) is introduced in the research of the mechanism of feature mapping in domains between product design and FEM. A method is proposed for the idealization of geometric model and coarse mesh generation.The study is made of the automatic generation of 3D part from 2D orthographic views. The concept of part base solid is given, and a new method of its generation is proposed.A new method of HOUGH transform is presented of feature extraction of linkage curves for line guiding mechanism, which may fulfill the design and dimensional synthesis of line guiding mechanisms.
