Research On Strategies Of Landscape Architecture Based On Nonlinear Thinking

Non-linear science is an emerging science that studies of the common character of nonlinearity. This dissertation tries to draw non-linear theory and methods into the landscape architecture. Firstly, three basic concepts are studied as follows:landscape, landscape architecture and landscape designers. The dissertation reviews the development and the limitations of landscape design from the twentieth century. Secondly, the dissertation rethinks the landscape design under the influence of linear landscape design, while constructing the concept of non-linear landscape design with the development of the times. Based on the landscape ideology in the twentieth century, systems analysis of theory and practice, data collection, analysis and synthesis of diagrams, the dissertation uses the theory of non-linear science, methodology of landscape urbanism and other related research areas, so that four levels are studied as follows:the application and transformation of nonlinear theory, the study of methodology of landscape urbanism, landscape design practice under the influence of nonlinear thinking, and digital-based non-linear Landscape design strategy. In combination with the complexity research of the natural and urban, the dissertation studies symbiotic of urban and landscape and architecture in the natural level; discusses the isomorphism of landscape and society, economy and culture in the cultural level; researches the organic composition of the landscape and Information technology at the technical level. This dissertation enriches and widens existing landscape architecture creating system, constructs a sustainable non-linear organic landscape frame that would adapt to the future human development.The achievements of this dissertation include three parts as follows: first with establishment of the Concept of Non-linear Thinking, it re-examines the relationship among the city, nature and human with interdisciplinary perspective; second, it cites the methodology of landscape urbanism in the design research and proposes new design strategy in combination with traditional design methods; third, it researches the existing operation mode based on the non-linear thinking, and supplements and updates the traditional landscape construction with different perspectives, combined with information technology. The conclusion of the dissertation aims to create a non-linear organic landscape world guided by the principle of unity, adaptability and poetic design.
