It is well known that short fiber-rubber composite materials the addition of short fiber into rubber compound with required oriention in extruding makes the tire have lots of high-performance. It is important to design such extrusion die, which is able to continuously extrude tread and make the short fiber radial orientation, and also study the radial orientation mechanism of short fiber in the tread.Combining with Jeffery equation and mechanics model of fixed point of Euler rigid body, research was done to study the mechanism and method of the short fiber radial orientation and characteristics of movement in tread extrusion process. The influence of tension flow field and shear flow field in flow channel on short fibers orientation has been systemically analyzed. The result showed that the expansion ratio and the expanding angle of cross section are the key factors to determine the radial orientation of short fiber. Mathematical model of short fiber radial orientation was established. The extrusion die, which has a hinder dam by adopting such principle was designed. Though the simulation of the flow field of die, get the results of pressure field, velocity field changes impact of short fiber orientation.Because mixing is the first step for processing of rubber products, and the mixing of fiber & rubber composites material have unique requirement, then the paper study the mechanism of short fiber and rubber composite material's mixing, design the proper new kind of rotor, make the simulation of rotor's mixing process.Though mixing experiment, verified new rotor's practicability, then get the best mixing processing. Through the different parameters of the extrusion experiment verified the calculation of mathematical model and have find out the key factor of the short fiber radial orientation. The experimental mixing conventional experimental program, extrusion experimental used the orthogonal program.The paper study the mechanism of the short fiber mixing, and the model of a radial orientation of short fiber was first established, then result was verified by experiment, which can played the role of guiding actual production.
