To meet the challenges of informationization of coal mines brought by"digital mine", and the needs for geospatial data management, in this dissertation the author analyses the status quo of informationization process in China's coal mines and the diverse requirements for construction of geospatial data service system at first. The focus of the dissertation is put on the fundamental theories, key technologies and overall framework related to the construction of geospatial data service system for coal mines. Under considerations of the inherent nature of spatial distribution and heterogeneity of geospatial data, an operational geospatial data service system for mines is designed and established in the dissertation through combination of ontology theory with open source technology. Main achievements include:(1) Based on the analysis of geospatial data integration theory and application requirements for coal mines, an overall framework for geospatial data integration system for coal mines was designed and constructed, in view of the integration process, the direction of data flow and applications.(2) Meeting the needs of production in coal mines, and according to the overall framework for geospatial data integration system mentioned above, we designed and established a platform for geospatial data service system based on B/S model in the environment of open source. This platform consists of two sub-systems: one for web publishing and another for on line map editing. The latter was proposed in the dissertation for the first time.(3) Classification and coding systems for mine information and a prototype system for metadata standard were developed in this dissertation, on the basis of research on information flow in mine production. The dissertation brought forward the conceptual model of metadata management system for the geospatial information in mines, and we have analyzed software module functions and the structure of the database in the system. We have developed the Meta-database Management prototype system for geospatial information in coal mines, running on Internet based on XML.(4) Presentation and modeling of the ontology in coal mines has been realized, the mapping of coal mine ontology with geospatial data, established, and methods for constructing geospatial database based on geographic ontology was proposed.(5) The dissertation deals with the loading of GML data based on PostgreSQL/PostGIS, addresses the bottleneck problem in sharing heterogeneous geospatial data, and realizes integrated organization and management of geospatial data based on PostgreSQL/PostGIS. Maintenance and management of the geospatial data in coal mines could be conducted on internet.(6) A strategy for defining complex symbols commonly used in mine maps was proposed. Up to 100 symbols were designed to meet the needs with mapping in mines.
