Tissue culture for seed stock of marine macroalgae was studies on seaweeds materials collected from coastal areas of Qingdao. Explants of 3 species of Chlorophyta, 10 species of Rhodophyta and 2 species of Phaeophyta were induced to develop calluses and filaments. The characters of structures and growth pattern of calluses and filaments were observed after calluses and filaments were excised from explants. The results are carried out as follows:1. The explants of Chlorophytes Enteromorpha intestinalis, Ulva pertusa develop pigmented filaments, Codium fragile develop tubiform filaments after induced by injury. The filaments have the ability of autotrophy and regeneration.2. The explants of Rhodophytes Grateloupia turuturu, Grateloupia filicina, Gloiopeltis furcata, Ceramium kondoi and Chondria tenuissima develop pigmented filaments after induced by injury. The filaments can be cultured in liquid medium and retain the ability of regeneration. The explants of Gracilaria lemaneiformis form pigmented callus after induced by injury. The calluses can regenerate into plantlet after excised from explants. The explants of Chondrus ocellatus, Solieria tenuis and Laurencia okamurai develop filaments after induced by injury. The filaments cannot live after excised from explants. They can regenerate when connected with explants. The explants of Gelidium amansii develop shoots directly after injury. The shoots can develop into whole plants.3. The explants of Phaeophytes Hizikia fusiformis, Sargassum horneri develop calluses with and without pigments. The calluses can regenerate into plantlets.Explants of macroalgae can develop different kinds of structure during the...
