This dissertation is a systematical study of the law and regulation mechanism of the growth and differentiation of spinal motoneurones in the chick embryos from both the normal and experimental aspects at cellular, subcelluar and molecular levels.1. Untill now, knowledge of the morphologene-tic events of spinal motoneuronal dendrites and of the development of the direct reflex are still remain unclear. Using a CB-HRP retrograde labelling technique, we was the first to follow up the whole process of the growth and differentiation of the motoneuronal dendrites as well as the forming of the reflex are in the lumbar spinal cord of chick embryos. Results were as follows:(1) The dendrites and somas of spinal motoneurones grew at exponential rate between embryo day 5 (E 5) to 13 (E 13), compared with linear rate between E 13 to 1 P.H.
