Reproductive health refers to a perfect state of all aspects related to the reproductive system and its functions and processes, including physical, mental, and social aspects, rather than simply the absence of diseases.Although domestic and foreign scholars have never stopped studying it,research on reproductive health is not uncommon. However, the academic research on the reproductive health of the elderly mostly focuses on the reproductive health status of middle-aged and elderly women, perimenopausal women, and the current situation of middle-aged and elderly people’s understanding of sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS,and most of them start from medicine, public health, sexual psychology and other disciplines.By the end of 2021,the centers for disease control in many places in China reported that the infection rate of AIDS among elderly men had increased dramatically, and commercial sex was the main way of infection. For a while, the reproductive health issues of elderly men have been pushed to the forefront and become a hot social issue of concern. This research takes four prefecture level cities in Guizhou Province as the research sites, from the perspective of demography, using survey research and empirical research methods,to deeply understand the knowledge, attitude and behavior of elderly men’s reproductive health, and explore various social factors that affect the knowledge, attitude and behavior of this group’s reproductive health. The survey found that the reproductive health level of elderly men needs to be improved, and its influencing factors are complex. In terms of reproductive health knowledge.Elderly men have poor knowledge of reproductive health and are greatly affected by education level, income level, registered residence and marital status; In terms of reproductive health awareness/attitude.The old men have weak sexual awareness. With the increase of age and education level, their attitudes towards sexual behavior become more conservative, and the urban, married and high-income elderly have higher awareness of the crisis, prevention and health of AIDS;In terms of sexual behavior.Elderly men of all age groups are eager for sexual activity and have the highest proportion in the marriage group, but the usage rate of condoms is not high.Among them, urban, unmarried, and high-income elderly men have a higher frequency of condom use, while low-income individuals have higher commercial sexual behavior. In general, the higher the level of knowledge about reproductive health, the more active their health awareness and attitudes towards the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases/AIDS,and the higher the frequency of condom use,the more proactive they will take measures to eliminate their own sexual repression, while those who do not understand the role of condoms often do not pay enough attention to the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases/AIDS.Finally,this study proposes suggestions to improve community health services, provide comprehensive health services for the elderly, change traditional concepts, solve reproductive health problems for elderly men in multiple aspects, build a unified aging friendly big data platform, improve elderly health literacy, increase social support, and enhance the happiness of elderly men’s lives.
