The Book of Changes is the general source of Chinese culture, like the root of wood and the source of water. It condenses the infinite wisdom of ancient sages and can be called a pearl of Chinese culture. The study of The Book of Changes,or Yi-ology,which uses the theory of "Harmony of Man With Nature" and the Image-number thinking, represents the most important thinking mode of understanding the world in ancient times. This thinking mode permeates all fields of social life, including Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).Yi-ology is the most typical representative of Image-number thinking, and its influence on other disciplines is subtle. The study of Yi-ology is actually the study of Chinese traditional thinking. The study of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology is to stand on the position of medicine, use Yi-ology to enter TCM,and explain TCM through Yi-ology.As the foundation work of Chinese traditional medicine, the Inner Canon of Huangdi is closely related to The Book of Changes in the construction of basic theoretical framework, medical treatment and health care. The cross-study between two different disciplines, traditional Chinese philosophy,Yi-ology and traditional Chinese life science,TCM,is conducive to breaking the discipline’s own closedness and narrowness, promoting the discipline’s innovative development and opening up new broad prospects. At present, there is no systematic study on the thought of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology in the Sui and Tang Dynasties.Sui and Tang Dynasties is a special period of the development of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology.There is an academic tendency to directly quote"Yi-ology" to elaborate "medical theory".The research and sorting out of the thought of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology in the Sui and Tang Dynasties will play an important role in clarifying the development context of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology.This study starts with the historical background of the formation of the thought of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. The first part is the general situation of the development of the thought of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology before the Sui and Tang Dynasties and the social background of the formation of the thought of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology in this period. In the pre-Qin period, the integration of Yi-ology and TCM was in the gestation stage. At this time, the integration of Yi ology and TCM was only expressed in the form of "explaining disease by divination".During the Qin and Han Dynasties. The integration of Yi-ology and TCM was further developed, and the wisdom of The Book of Changes was shining in the Inner Canon of Huangdi and Treatise on Febrile Diseases. The gradual development of the thought of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology is inseparable from the environmental characteristics of various times. In the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the thought of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology entered a new stage, which benefited from the stable social environment at that time, the attention of the rulers and the needs of medical self-development.The second part is the main part of this study, which is the thought of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology in medical works in the Sui and Tang Dynasties.Taking "Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun","Grand Simplicity of Inner Canon of Huangdi"."Qianjin Yaofang","Qianjin Yifang","Waitai Miy ao" and Wang bing’s " Huang Di Nei Jing Su Wen" as the main research objects, this paper finds out the contents of using Yi-ology to explain TCM theory and learning to understand medicine, and analyzes, summarizes and sorts out the characteristics of Yi-ology thought of doctors in the Sui and Tang Dynasties.Chao Yuanfang expressed the influence of evil Qi in different directions on the symptoms of leprosy by the coordination of the nine palaces and eight trigrams in The Book of Changes, which is the inheritance and development of the "Nine Palaces and Eight Winds" in the Inner Canon of Huangdi;Under the guidance of the cosmology of The "Unity of Heaven and Man",Yang Shangshan introduced the "Twelve Decreasing and Increasing Hexagrams" of the Yi-ology in Han Dynasty into the medical theory, which is the most distinctive and pioneering part of his the fusion of Yi-ology and TCM thought. He used the "twelve decreasing and increasing hexagrams" to explain that the Yin and Yang of the human body change with the change of the natural climate,so people should adapt to the four seasons for health preservation.Sun Simiao attaches great importance to The Book of Changes. The article mainly starts from the treatment view of "Neutralization",the concept of the whole of "the Integration of Three Layers",the health preservation view of"Nourishing Nature",the cosmology view of "Qi Monism" and its application to the image-number thinking in The Book of Changes.Waitai Miyao contains the concept of "the Integration of Three Layers" and the theory of temperancen.Wang Bing’s fertility view and health preservation view of "Reestablishment to Yin-Yang Equilibrium" embodied in "Huang Di Nei Jing Su Wen" contain extremely rich ideas of Yi-ology.The third part is about the characteristics of the thought of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology in Sui and Tang Dynasties.Generally speaking, the thought of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology in this period are scattered and not systematic. Most of them are sporadic references to The Book of Changes by various doctors and thinkers, but they all have one thing in common, that is,they always embody the concept of "Unity of Heaven and Man".In addition, the thoughts of Confucianism,Taoism and Buddhism have long been integrated into the fusion of Yi-ology and TCM.The fourth part is the evaluation of the thought of the fusion of Yi-ology and TCM in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. In this period, the thought of the fusion of Yi-ology and TCM opened up an era of "Quote Yi-ology to Enter TCM",which was advanced and scientific, but some of its contents were superstitious. The combination of TCM and Yi-ology has improved the status of TCM,which indirectly promoted the emergence of Confucian doctors in the Song Dynasty. The last part is the conclusion of this study.Under the foreshadowing of the Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties and the Wei and Jin Dynasties, the medical experts in the Sui and Tang dynasties used the elements of Yi-ology more widely and frequently. The development of the thought of the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology is influenced and promoted by all aspects of society. At the same time,it will also have a certain impact on the society. In the current era,we need to keep the integrity and innovation of traditional culture,"the fusion of TCM and Yi-ology " is a good starting point.
