During the historical period, epidemics occurred frequently in China and caused the death of tens of millions of people. These deaths were closely related to events such as war, famine, and floods and droughts caused by climate change.Based on the records of the epidemic(large-scale)events in the official history and ancient medical books of the Han and Tang Dynasties, this paper makes a periodical classification and discussion of the text content of the epidemic historical materials.By analyzing the content of epidemic writing and its development and evolution under the epidemic system in different periods, starting from the triggering mechanism of epidemics, people’s understanding of epidemics, and ideas of epidemic prevention and control,an attempt is made to construct a historical picture of epidemics in the Han and Tang Dynasties. And in the process of analysis and writing,it further clarifies the different definitions and path changes of the construction of epidemic knowledge in ancient medical books. The full text consists of three main parts. The author took the epidemic of the disease that occurred in the Green Forest Army during the Han Dynasty as the epidemic event, the Nanjing area in the Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties as the epidemic line event, and the 6 plagues in the Sui and Tang Dynasties from 762 to809 AD as the epidemic incident. The landscape construction of disaster points, lines and surfaces, and the backtracking of complex disaster chains such as war-famine-epidemic,flood and drought-famine-epidemic events that occurred in the three periods, and explored the effects of climate, war, and famine on the occurrence of disease events as the first part of the research content of each period. The second part discusses the prevention and control measures and thoughts of epidemic diseases from the Han Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty. The occurrence of the epidemic appeared to the ancients to be caused by ghosts and evil spirits. However,in the traditional famine policies and measures, the prevention and treatment of the epidemic by the people of the time was often too crude, and superstition was full of colors.Among them, the military,as the hardest hit area of the epidemic, has also shown insufficient response capabilities for the prevention and control of the epidemic, which has further aggravated the depth and breadth of the epidemic. The third part is the research on the writing of epidemics in medical books. There is a wealth of knowledge about infectious diseases in traditional medical classics. For example, the view on the incidence of typhoid fever in "Treatise on Febrile Diseases" also has a more systematic view of etiology, transmission route, transmission change, dialectical treatment, prevention and care. However, because its interpretation of text content, theory and concepts is still vague, the dichotomy path of epidemic writing is not yet obvious, which needs to be further explored. |
