Objective(s):1.To construct a teaching program of AIDET communication model of nurse-patient communication for intern nursing students.2.To evaluate the feasibility of the AIDET communication model of nurse-patient communication teaching program for intern nursing students.3.To improve the nurse-patient communication ability of intern nursing students and to provide teaching reference for nurse-patient communication of intern nursing students.Methods:In the first part,a qualitative study was conducted from May 2021 to August 2021using purposive sampling method to select intern nursing students and clinical nursing instructors in a tertiary care hospital as interviewees,to understand the current situation of nurse-patient communication among intern nursing students and the needs and teaching suggestions of nurse-patient communication courses for intern nursing students through semi-structured interviews,and to provide a realistic basis for the initial construction of teaching programs.Based on the principle of information saturation,the interview information of the subjects was sorted out,and the results of the interviews were organized,in which all information could be obtained from the interview results of 10 intern nursing students and 9 clinical nursing instructors,so these 19 intern nursing students and clinical nursing instructors were selected as the interview subjects,and the themes were refined using the seven-step analysis of Colaizzi phenomenological data.In the second part,the AIDET communication model for nurse practitioners was constructed based on the theoretical guidance of the AIDET communication model and scripts,book research,literature research method,and the realistic basis derived from the qualitative interviews.From September 2021 to November 2021,16 experts in the field of nursing education,nursing management and clinical nursing were selected as the respondents through a combination of on-site distribution,email and We Chat correspondence,and two rounds of correspondence were conducted by applying the"Expert Opinion Correspondence Form for AIDET Communication Model for Intern Nursing Students"to the experts.In the third part,a convenience sampling method was used.In the third part,144 intern nursing students who entered the A and B departments of our hospital from December 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the subjects of the study using the convenience sampling method.72 intern nursing students in the A department were the control group(n=72)and 72 intern nursing students in the B department were the experimental group(n=72),and the control group used the traditional teaching mode to carry out teaching activities in the form of one-to-one teaching,while the experimental group The control group adopted the traditional teaching mode and carried out teaching activities in the form of one-to-one teaching,while the experimental group adopted the AIDET communication mode of nurse-patient communication teaching program for intern nurses and carried out teaching activities in the form of one-to-one teaching.When the two groups of interns leave the department:(1)the teaching teacher fills in the"Clinical Communication Ability Evaluation Form for Nursing Students"to evaluate the interns;(2)the interns fill in the"Clinical Communication Ability Evaluation Form for Nursing Students"for self-evaluation;(3)the interns fill in the"Satisfaction Questionnaire for Teaching Internship Nursing Students"to evaluate the satisfaction of teaching;(4)the patients fill in the"Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire for Internship Nursing Students"to evaluate the interns;(5)the interns complete the"Patient Communication Teaching Program"to evaluate the interns.(5)The interns completed the theoretical examination of nurse-patient communication.The t-test,Wilcoxon rank sum test,χ~2test and Fisher’s exact probability method were used to statistically analyze the obtained data and compare the two groups of intern nurses in establishing a harmonious relationship,identifying patient problems,joint participation,delivering effective information,verifying feelings,planning and preparation of communication,initiation of nurse-patient communication,collecting information,giving information,obtaining and understanding patient’s point of view,the end of nurse-patient communication We also compared the differences between the two groups in terms of intern nurses’satisfaction with teaching,patients’satisfaction with intern nurses,and communication theory test scores.Results:1.Through the compilation and analysis of the interview data of intern nursing students and clinical nursing teaching,two main themes and five sub-themes were condensed.(1)The current situation and problems of nurse-patient communication among intern nursing students(1)timidity and lack of self-confidence,lack of awareness of active communication(ii)Lack of communication skills,lack of understanding,trust,cooperation and satisfaction of patients.(3)limited knowledge reserve and language expression ability to meet the information needs of patients.(2)Learning needs and teaching suggestions of nurse-patient communication course for intern nursing students(1)Improve teaching methods and develop targeted teaching contents of nurse-patient communication with reality.(2)attaching importance to the standard demonstration of nurse-patient communication and the practical practice of communication skills.2.Construction of AIDET communication model for intern nursing students The teaching program of nurse-patient communication includes teaching content(theoretical knowledge of nurse-patient communication,theoretical knowledge of AIDET communication model,AIDET communication script),teaching implementation(oral lecture,demonstration method,role play,one-on-one teaching and demonstration practice),teaching evaluation(communication ability of intern nursing students,satisfaction of teaching,satisfaction of patients to nursing students,communication(degree of theoretical knowledge mastery)in three parts,the positive coefficient of experts in both rounds was 100%,which was greater than 70%,indicating that experts were more positive,and the overall expert authority coefficient was 0.8531>0.7,so the results of expert correspondence in this study were credible,and the Kendall’s harmony coefficients of expert correspondence in the two rounds were 0.249 and 0.272,respectively,and the differences were statistically significant by chi-square test(p<0.001),indicating a high degree of expert opinion coordination and reliable correspondence results.3.Effect of AIDET communication model on nurse-patient communication ability of intern nursing students(1)Before the intervention,there was no statistical difference between the experimental group and the control group in the comparison of total score and dimensions of communication ability(P>0.05);after the intervention,in the self-assessment of nurse-patient communication ability of intern nursing students,the total score of communication ability and the establishment of harmonious relationship,identification of patient problems,joint participation,transmission of effective information and verification of feelings of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);after the intervention,the nursing The total score of communication ability and the planning and preparation of communication,initiation of nurse-patient communication,collecting information,giving information,obtaining and understanding patient’s point of view,and ending of nurse-patient communication were higher in the experimental group than in the control group in the evaluation of nurse-patient communication ability of intern nursing students by the lead instructor,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.The influence of AIDET communication model in patients’satisfaction evaluation of intern nursing students(1)There is no statistical difference between the general information of patients in the experimental group and the control group(P>0.05).(2)After the intervention,the total scores of service awareness,work effectiveness,communication skills and work attitude of nursing students in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).5.The effect of AIDET communication mode on the satisfaction of intern nursing students with teachingAfter the intervention,the experimental group’s nursing students’satisfaction with teaching was higher than that of the control group in terms of"the arrangement and teaching methods of the department","effective nurse-patient communication with the teaching teacher","patience of the teaching teacher in answering the students’questions","learning in the department",and"the teaching of the nursing students".The total scores of"learning something in the department"and"learning something in the department"were higher than those of the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05),while the differences of other items were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion(s):1.The use of AIDET communication model to carry out nurse-patient communication teaching activities for intern nursing students can improve the nurse-patient communication ability of intern nursing students.2.the application of AIDET communication model to carry out nurse-patient communication teaching activities for intern nursing students can improve the satisfaction of patients with intern nursing students.3.the application of AIDET communication model to carry out nurse-patient communication teaching activities for intern nursing students can improve the satisfaction of intern nursing students with teaching.4.AIDET communication model nurse-patient communication teaching program for intern nurses is practical and feasible in teaching nurse-patient communication to intern nurses. |
