| Purpose(1)The purpose was to understand the current status of mindful self-care,resilience,professional quality of life,and mental health of hospice nurses and to examine differences in their general status in terms of hospital attributes,general demographic information,and job evaluation and training.(2)The purpose was to explore the relationship among mindful self-care,resilience,professional life quality and mental health.(3)The purpose was to construct interventions that effectively improve hospice nurses’ compassion fatigue,enhance their compassion satisfaction,and promote mental health in hospice nurses.Method(1)This study systematically analyzed the current development of mindful self-care,resilience,professional quality of life and mental health of nurses at home and abroad through literature analysis.(2)This study conducted a questionnaire survey of 300 nurses in a city hospice pilot facility through purposive sampling to understand the current status of relevant variables and influencing factors and to construct pathways of influence among variables.(3)This study conducted a deep dive on hospice nurses through qualitative interviews to summarize the common manifestations,causes and coping strategies of hospice nurses’ compassion fatigue and other related psychological problems.(4)This study provided cognitive education and positive thinking training for hospice nurses through psychological interventions and examined the effects of the interventions.(5)This study used NVIVO 12 to organize and analyze the qualitative data and SPSS26 to organize and analyze the questionnaire data.Result(1)The overall score of hospice nurses on mindful self-care was(81.10±13.28).There were significant differences(p<0.05)in mindful self-care in terms of hospital class,hospital type,monthly income,job satisfaction,income satisfaction,whether they attended psychological training and hospice training.(2)Hospice nurses had an overall score of(24.51±7.20)on resilience.There were significant differences in psychological resilience of hospice nurses in terms of hospital class,hospital type,title,monthly income,job satisfaction,income satisfaction,whether they attended psychological training and hospice training(p<0.05).(3)The overall scores of hospice nurses on compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue were scored as(33.84±7.15)and(51.22±10.36).compassion satisfaction was significantly different(p<0.05)on hospital level,hospital type,age,job title,years of experience,monthly income,work intensity,job satisfaction,income satisfaction,and whether they attended psychological training and hospice training.There was a significant difference in compassion fatigue on hospital nature,job title,job intensity,job satisfaction,income satisfaction and whether to attend psychological training(p<0.05).(4)The overall score on mental health of hospice nurses was(43.43±15.31).There were significant differences(p<0.05)in mental health with respect to hospital class,hospital type,age,years of experience,job satisfaction,income satisfaction,whether they attended psychological training,and hospice training.(5)Correlation analysis showed that mindful self-care,resilience,compassion satisfaction,compassion fatigue and mental health were two-by-two correlated(p<0.01).(6)Mindful self-care positively predicted resilience,compassion satisfaction,and mental health,and negatively predicted compassion fatigue(p<0.001);resilience positively predicted compassion satisfaction and mental health(p<0.001),and negatively predicted compassion fatigue(p<0.001);compassion satisfaction positively predicted mental health(p<0.001),and compassion fatigue negatively predict mental health(p<0.001).(7)The separate mediating effect analysis showed that resilience and professional quality of life mediated the effect between mindful self-care and mental health,respectively;resilience mediated the effect between mindful self-care and professional quality of life;and professional quality of life mediated the effect between resilience and mental health.The chain mediating effect analysis showed that resilience and professional quality of life mediated the chain effect between mindful self-care and mental health,with the chain mediating effect of resilience and compassion satisfaction accounting for 65.47%of the total effect and the chain mediating effect of resilience and compassion fatigue accounting for 48.05% of the total effect.(8)The qualitative study analyzed three aspects of hospice nurses’ psychological problem performance,influencing factors and coping strategies,which to some extent validated the quantitative results of Study 3.(9)Before and after the intervention,hospice nurses in the intervention group had significantly higher compassion satisfaction(p<0.001)and mental health(p<0.001)and significantly lower compassion fatigue(p<0.01).Conclusions(1)Hospice nurses were at an intermediate level of mindful self-care.Hospice nurses with higher hospital grade,specialty hospitals,associate chief nursing officer and above,more satisfied with their jobs,higher income levels and more satisfied with their income,and hospice nurses who had participated in psychological training and hospice training had relatively better mindful self-care.(2)The level of resilience of hospice nurses was at a low to moderate level,and hospice nurses with higher hospital grade,specialty hospitals,higher titles,more satisfied with their jobs,higher income levels and more satisfied with their income,and having participated in psychological training and hospice training had relatively better resilience.(3)The overall compassion satisfaction of hospice nurses was at a medium to high level,and the compassion satisfaction scores of hospice nurses in tertiary hospitals,specialty hospitals,41 years old and above,the higher the job title,the more years of work less than 5 years and more than 21 years,the average work intensity,the more satisfied with their work,the higher the income level and the more satisfied with their income,and having participated in psychological training and hospice training were higher;the overall compassion fatigue of hospice nurses was at a medium-high level,and hospice nurses in private hospitals,nurses and associate chief nurses and above,with average work intensity,the more satisfied with their jobs,with satisfactory income levels,and with having attended psychological training and hospice training had relatively low compassion fatigue.(4)The mental health of hospice nurses was at a moderate to high level.The mental health of hospice nurses who are specialized hospitals,over 45 years old,the longer they work,the more satisfied with their jobs,the more satisfied with their income,and have participated in psychological training and hospice training is relatively good.(5)Resilience and professional quality of life mediated between mindful self-care and mental health,respectively;resilience mediated between mindful self-care and professional quality of life;professional quality of life mediated between resilience and mental health;resilience and professional quality of life mediated between mindful self-care and mental health in a chain.(6)The qualitative study further explored the common psychological problems of hospice nurses and the internal and external causes of these problems,and the coping strategies to improve the mental health of hospice nurses by increasing compassion satisfaction,improving self-perceptions,and increasing self-care.(7)The educational intervention program designed for hospice nurses in this study can improve the level of compassion satisfaction and mental health to a certain extent,and improve the problem of compassion fatigue. |
