Object:This study uses questionnaire surveys and data analysis to understand the current situation and differences in expectations, satisfaction and loyalty of public health graduate students, analyze the role of expectations and satisfaction on loyalty, identify problems and shortcomings in the current cultivation model process, determine the key populations for public health graduate management, and make targeted suggestions for improving their expectations, satisfaction and loyalty. Methods:Using the National Medical Fresh Graduate Education Satisfaction Questionnaire 2021,a survey was conducted on the current year’s national medical fresh graduate students, and after the questionnaire was returned, public health graduate students were selected as the study population and analyzed for information related to their basic profile, expectations, satisfaction and loyalty.Descriptive statistical analysis was used to derive the scores of public health graduate students’ expectations, satisfaction and loyalty, and entropy weighting was used to analyze the weights of indicators under each dimension and calculate the composite score;t-test or ANOVA was used to compare the variability of expectations, satisfaction and loyalty on different personal characteristics;multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of satisfaction and loyalty;correlation between variables was used to analyze the correlation;stratified regression was used to verify the influence of different categories of expectations and satisfaction on loyalty.Results:1.Current status of expectations, satisfaction, and loyalty of public health graduate studentsThe expectations of public health graduate students were divided into school expectations, professional expectations, and supervisor expectations, with mean scores of(4.24±0.78),(4.20±0.81),and(4.40±0.71),respectively.Satisfaction was categorized into satisfaction with course learning, satisfaction with research training, satisfaction with mentorship, and satisfaction with management services based on the training process, with mean scores of(3.80±0.79),(3.80±0.89),(4.29±0.94),and(3.66±0.98),respectively.Public health graduate students’ loyalty was divided into institutional loyalty, professional loyalty and mentor loyalty with mean scores of(3.95±1.06),(3.79±1.08)and(4.17±1.08),respectively.2.Differences in expectations of public health graduate students by individual characteristicsThrough univariate analyses, the study found that the differences in expectations of public health graduate students across categories under different degree types, institution types, disciplinary ranks, and regions.Among them, public health graduate students with professional degrees had lower expectations of their majors and supervisors;public health graduate students from non-dual first-class institutions had lower expectations of their schools and majors;the higher the disciplinary assessment grade the higher the school expectations and professional expectations;and the central region had higher professional expectations than the eastern and western regions.3.Differences in satisfaction among public health graduate students with different individual characteristicsThrough univariate analysis, this study found that the differences in the satisfaction of different dimensions of public health graduate students across age, degree type, institution type, professional transfer, and parental medical background.Among them, satisfaction with mentoring was higher with older age;satisfaction with research training and mentoring was higher among public health graduate students with academic degrees;satisfaction with mentoring was higher among public health graduate students from double-class institutions than from non-double-class institutions;satisfaction with mentoring was higher among those who did not experience professional transfer;and satisfaction with research training was higher among those whose parents had medical background.4.Differences in loyalty among public health graduate students with different individual characteristicsThrough univariate analysis, this study found that the differences in different dimensions of loyalty among clinical medicine graduate student instructors under different institutional types and regional conditions.Among them, the institutional loyalty of public health graduate students in double-class institutions was higher;the professional loyalty of public health graduate students in the eastern region was higher.5.The influence of public health graduate students’ expectations and satisfaction on loyaltyThe correlation and linear model analysis showed that the factors influencing public health graduate students’ satisfaction with course learning were: professional expectations;the factors influencing public health graduate students’ satisfaction with research training were: mentor expectations;the factors influencing public health graduate students’ satisfaction with mentoring were: mentor expectations;the factors influencing public health graduate students’ satisfaction with management services were: school expectations;the factors influencing public health graduate students’ school The factors that influence the loyalty of public health graduate students are: school expectations, satisfaction with course learning, and satisfaction with management services;the factors that influence the professional loyalty of public health graduate students are: professional expectations, satisfaction with course learning, satisfaction with mentoring, and satisfaction with management services;the factors that influence the loyalty of public health graduate students’ mentors are: mentor expectations, satisfaction with research training, and satisfaction with mentoring.6.Model construction of educational expectations, training satisfaction and loyalty of public health graduate studentsA stratified regression analysis revealed that educational expectations(β=0.173,p<0.001),satisfaction with course learning(β=0.171,p<0.01),satisfaction with instructor guidance(β=0.378,p<0.001),and satisfaction with administrative services(β=0.243,p<0.001)all positively influenced student loyalty, and course learning satisfaction, tutor guidance satisfaction, and management service satisfaction partially mediated the relationship between educational expectations and student loyalty. The tested mediating effects of course learning satisfaction tutor guidance satisfaction and management service satisfaction accounted for 16.16%,24.57% and 23.07%,respectively.Conclusion:Public health graduate students’ educational expectations, satisfaction with cultivation, and student loyalty were good overall, and school expectations and professional expectations were relatively low when comparing the expectations of different categories of public health graduate students.Comparing the satisfaction of different categories of public health graduate students, management service satisfaction scored the lowest.Comparing different categories of loyalty among public health graduate students, institutional loyalty and professional loyalty were relatively low.Public health graduate students from non-dual-tier institutions had lower expectations, satisfaction, and loyalty compared to those from dual-tier institutions.Satisfaction with course work, satisfaction with mentoring, and satisfaction with management services play a partially mediating role. Therefore, increasing public health graduate student education expectations and satisfaction with cultivation can effectively promote loyalty.
