Objective:The survey is designed to investigate geriatric nurses’ pressure injury knowledge in Hebei Province and their attitudes towards pressure injury prevention. After analyzing these influencing factors,we will offer direction and basis for the nurses pressure injury training. Methods:The survey was conducted by stratified cluster random sampling. We randomly selected three or four hospitals(hospitals including geriatrics department)from every prefecture-level cities in Hebei Province from August 18,2021 to September 28,2021.And a total of 883 nurses, from 43 different hospitals, who fit the standard completed questionnaires,751 valid questionnaires were collected. In addition, the general information questionnaire, the Pressure Injury Knowledge Assessment Tool(Chinese Version)and Pressure Injury Prevention Attitude Scale(Chinese Version)are selected as research tools, and to analyze the influencing factors of the pressure injury knowledge of geriatric nurses and their attitudes towards pressure injury prevention. In this survey, the database was established on Excel and then SPSS26.0 was used for statistical analysis. The main statistical methods is applied in the survey, including descriptive analysis,t test,uni-variate analysis,Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis.Results:1.In this survey, the total score of the geriatric nurses’ pressure injury knowledge is(9.33±2.92)points(the total score is 21 points),and the average scoring rate is 44.33%.From highest to lowest, the average scoring rates of six dimensions on pressure injury knowledge are separately: special patients(56.66%),periodization and observation(52.77%),risk factor assessment(51.26%),causes of disease(51.20%),nutrition(36.22%),and pressure injury prevention(35.06%).2.The total score of the geriatric nurses’ attitudes towards the prevention of pressure injury is(42.64±4.84)points(the total score of the Chinese Version of Pressure Injury Prevention Attitude Scale was 52 points),and the average scoring rate was 82%.From the highest to lowest, the average scoring rates of four dimensions of attitudes towards pressure injury prevention were priority(86.12%),confidence in preventing pressure injury(83.25%),effects of pressure injury(79.42%),and personal ability(79.25%).3.According to the results of uni-variate analysis of the effects of scores of pressure injury knowledge of geriatric nurses, city, hospital level, hospital characteristics, length of employment of nurses, age, position, professional ranks and titles, education background, whether he/she has participated in pressure injury knowledge training, and the time from attending the last training were related to the score of pressure injury knowledge(P < 0.05).4.According to the results of uni-variate analysis of the effects of scores of geriatric nurses’ attitudes towards pressure injury prevention, city, hospital level, hospital characteristics, professional ranks and titles, education background, whether participated in the pressure injury knowledge training or not, whether he/she is a member of the pressure injury group, and the time from attending the last training were related to the score of the pressure injury prevention attitude(P < 0.05).5.The results of multiple linear regression analysis of geriatric nurses pressure injury knowledge indicates that city, hospital level, hospital characteristics, age, length of employment, and professional title are the influencing factors.6.The results of multiple linear regression analysis of the attitude of geriatric nurses to prevent pressure injury showed that city, hospital level, hospital characteristics, professional title, whether he/she is a member of the pressure injury group, whether he/she has participated in the pressure injury training, and the time from attending the last training are the influencing factors.Conclusion:1.The survey proves that nurses of the geriatrics department in Hebei Province have a positive attitude towards the pressure injury. However, they don’t master pressure injury knowledge very well.2.City,hospital level, hospital characteristics, age, length of employment, and professional title are the influencing factors of geriatric nurses’ scores of pressure injury knowledge. And the influencing factors of prevention attitude scores are city, hospital level, hospital characteristics, professional title, whether he/she is a member of the pressure injury group, whether he/she has participated in the pressure injury training, and the time from attending the last training. It illustrates that it is necessary for nursing managers to formulate training plans suitable for geriatric nurses in their hospitals according to all influencing factors mentioned above. |
