Clinical Observation Of Liuwei Dihuang Pills Combined With Donepezil Hydrochloride Tablets Treatment Of Alzheimer’s Yin Deficiency Syndrome

ObjectivesTo observe and evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Liuwei Dihuang capsule combined with Donepezil Hydrochloride in the treatment of patients with yin deficiency syndrome of Alzheimer’s disease..MethodsThe study included 84 patients with yin deficiency syndrome of Alzheimer’s disease and was randomly divided into a test group and a control group,with 40 cases in the test group completing the entire study and 41 cases in the control group completing the entire study.Both groups were treated with donepezil hydrochloride;the test group was treated with Liuwei Dihuang capsule;the control group was treated with Liuwei Dihuang capsule placebo.Before and after treatment(6 months of treatment cycle),patients were tested for TCM syndrome score,neuropsychological scales(MMSE,Mo CA and ADL)and laboratory indices(Hcy,apo E,CRP,IL-6 and Aβ)to assess the efficacy and safety of treatment.Results(1)No statistically significant differences in general information between the two groups of patients(P > 0.05);(2)After treatment,the efficacy rates of the TCM syndrome in the test and control groups were 85% and 48.7%;(3)Compared with those before treatment,the TCM syndrome scores of both groups decreased(P < 0.01,P < 0.05);and the degree of improvement of yin deficiency syndrome in the test group was more significant than that in the control group(P < 0.01),and had a significant advantage in the subitems of yin deficiency symptoms of red tongue with little coating,irritable heat in the five hearts,dry mouth and throat,irritable heart,little sleep,and dry stools(P < 0.01);(4)Compared with the pre-treatment period,the MMSE,Mo CA and ADL scores in both groups showed significant improvements(P < 0.01),and the scores in the test group were higher than those in the control group.In the cognitive subscale of the Mo CA scale,the test group had an advantage over the control group in terms of improved scores in visuospatial and executive abilities and delayed memory(P < 0.05);(5)Compared with before treatment,Hcy,apo E,CRP,IL-6,and Aβ were significantly decreased in both groups(P < 0.01),while compared with the control group,the decrease in the test group was more significant(P < 0.01).Conclusion(1)Liuwei Dihuang capsule combined with Donepezil Hydrochloride was more advantageous in improving clinical symptoms and subscripts of TCM syndrome including red tongue with less coating,irritable heat in the five hearts,dry mouth and throat,irritable heart,less sleep,and dry stools in patients with yin deficiency syndrome Alzheimer’s disease,and significantly improved cognitive function and quality of daily life mainly visual-spatial and executive abilities and delayed memory.(2)Liuwei Dihuang capsule combined with Donepezil Hydrochloride significantly reduced the levels of Hcy,apo E,CRP,IL-6 and Aβ indexes in AD patients.
