Objectives We sought to comprehend the distribution of visual complex characteristics among those with yin-deficiency AD by analyzing digital visual diagnosis data and the intervention study of Liu Wei Di Huang capsule. This research was conducted to gain insight into the relevant factors for Chinese and Western medicine’s diagnosis and treatment plans,as well as to provide a basis for assessing the clinical efficacy of Liu Wei Di Huang capsule in treating yin-deficiency AD patients.MethodsThe ocular images of all subjects(120 patients with yin-deficiency AD and 100 normal subjects)were taken using the ocular diagnostic equipment developed by Boao Jingdian, and the ocular information was processed to digitally extract the ocular complex characteristics.Analysis was performed to compare the differences in the eyelid characteristics of the AD and NC groups.Pearson correlation test analysis was performed to investigate the correlation between the eye-lens characteristic scores of AD patients with yin-deficiency and the levels of related scale indicators(Behave-AD,MMSE,ADL,QOL-AD)scores and TCM evidence scores.Screening 72 patients with yin-deficiency AD who fulfilled the criteria for inclusion,a division was made into two groups: the treatment group(36)and the control group(36).The application of Donepezil tablets in the control group was compared with the western combined application of Liu Wei Di Huang capsule in the treatment group to examine the efficacy of the two groups and the changes in Behave-AD,MMSE,ADL,QOL-AD and Traditional Chinese medicine evidence points.before and after treatment.Results.(1)Compared with the NC group, the "Dian" and "Ban" integral of the eyecharacteristics of the AD group were higher(P<0.05).(2)The Behave-AD score and TCM syndrome score of the AD group patients were positively correlated with the "Dian" and "Ban" points of the eye characteristics(r=0.768,P<0.01,r=0.543,P<0.01;r=0.733,P<0.01,r=0.513,P<0.01);The course of the AD group patients were positively correlated with the "Dian" score of the eye features(r=0.263,P<0.05).The MMSE score,ADL score and QOL-AD score of the AD group patients were negatively correlated with the "Dian" and "Ban" scores of the visual features(r=-0.759,P<0.01,r=-0.508,P<0.01;r=-0.812,P<0.01,r=-0.525,P<0.01;r=-0.785,P<0.01,r=-0.527,P<0.01).(3)Significantly lower scores for the Behave-AD and eye-loop characteristics "Dian" and "Ban" were observed in comparison to pre-treatment(P<0.01),while MMSE,ADL,and QOL-AD scores were significantly higher(P<0.01)in both groups of patients suffering from Yin Deficiency AD.Significantly higher scores were observed for MMSE,ADL,and QOL-AD(P<0.01).In the treatment group, the TCM syndrome score was significantly lower(P<0.01)than in the control group(P<0.05).(4)Significantly reduced scores of eye characteristics were observed in Behave-AD,TCM syndrome,"Dian" and "Ban" after treatment(P<0.01),while ADL and QOL-AD scores were significantly increased(P<0.01).The MMSE scores of the treatment group were notably higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion(1)Compared with the normal population, patients with yin-deficiency AD had a higher score of "Dian" and "Ban",indicating that yin-deficiency AD is more common due to deficiency of kidney yin, deficiency of phlegm and stasis, and signs of turbidity and toxicity. The "Dian" and "Ban" scores of AD patients were positively correlated with the seriousness of the disease.(2)The combination treatment of Liu Wei Di Huang capsule and Donepezil is effective, which can not only seen in the enhancement of cognition level, mental state and quality of life, but also in the successful alleviation of TCM syndrome,a beneficial practical outcome.
