Objective: By observing the clinical effectiveness of Modified Bushen Huoxuetang in the treatment of residual symptoms after PKP,the efficacy of Chinese medicine "Modified Bushen Huoxuetang " was verified, which provides new ideas for the clinical treatment of residual symptoms after PKP with Chinese medicine. Methods: From January 2021 to June 2022,Sixty patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures were diagnosed with kidney deficiency and blood stasis type, and who still had residual symptoms such as residual low back pain and restricted movement 48 hours after PKP were selected for the study at the Department of Orthopaedic Injuries of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Chinese Medicine.Grouping followed the randomization principle, with 30 cases each in the control and herbal groups. The control group was given anti-osteoporosis medication on the 3rd day after surgery. The Chinese herbal group was assigned Modified Bushen Huoxuetang based on the control group for 1 month. The VAS scores and ODI scores of patients in both groups before,1 month after medication, and 3 months after medication were collected, and the levels of bone metabolic indexes(serum PINP,serum β-CTX)and bone mineral density content were measured before and 3months after medication,respectively.Results:1.All 60 patients completed this study without shedding. The general data(gender, age, vertebral fracture site, etc.)and preoperative observation indexes of the two groups were statistically tested, and there were no substantial differences(P > 0.05).2.VAS and ODI scores: Scores declined in both groups after 1 and 3 months of medication compared to postoperative day 3(before medication)(P < 0.05).Chinese herbal group VAS and ODI scores declined substantially more than control group scores when compared between groups(P < 0.05).3.Serum PINP levels: Compared to before medication, serum PINP levels were considerably improved in both groups after 3 months of medication(P < 0.05).In comparison to the control group, serum PINP levels were higher in the Chinese herbal group 3 months after the medication(P < 0.05).4.Serum β-CTX levels: Three months after medication, serum β-CTX levels considerably declined in both groups(P < 0.05),and when comparing groups, the serum β-CTX levels in the Chinese herbal group were substantially lower than those in the comparison group at 3 months after medication(P < 0.05).5.Bone Densitometry: Three months after medication, the bone mineral density measurements enhanced in both groups compared with those before medication(P <0.05),and the bone mineral density measurements in the Chinese herbal group were upper than those in the comparison group at 3 months after medication when compared between groups(P < 0.05).Conclusion: Patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures were diagnosed with kidney deficiency and blood stasis type and still had residual symptoms after PKP surgery.Combined internal treatment with the Modified Bushen Huoxuetang can reduce residual low back pain, improve spinal joint function, regulate bone metabolism, and promote bone resorption. The effectiveness of the treatment is exact and Worthy of clinical replication.
