Objective:Shijiazhuang, the capital city of Hebei Province, has a large population and this study coincides with the normalization of the new crown epidemic, which has put a lot of medical pressure on hospitals due to the sudden increase of new crown and suspected patients. In this study,we studied the physical activity level of medical interns in Shijiazhuang,China. To this end, this study was conducted to understand the physical activity and mental health status of medical interns in Shijiazhuang and to investigate the relationship between physical activity and mental health status in order to provide a reference for promoting the mental health problems of medical interns in Shijiazhuang and their physical education activities during their internship. Methods:This study applied questionnaire, literature, mathematical and statistical methods along with further interview method to a random sample of medical interns interning at several tertiary and higher hospitals in Shijiazhuang in September 2021,and applied the Symptom Self-Rating Scale(SCL-90)and SAS and HAMD to assess the mental health of medical interns in Shijiazhuang. The influencing factors of physical activities involved in medical interns were analyzed, and the correlation between physical activities and mental health of medical interns was summarized. Results:A total of 350 questionnaires were distributed in this study and 330 were finally returned,of which 238 were valid,133(55.88%)were female interns and 105(44.12%)were male interns, with an average age of(23.47±3.28)years.The mean scores of somatization, anxiety and depression factors were higher in Shijiazhuang medical interns SCL-90 compared with the national normative model(P<0.05);one-way ANOVA showed no significant differences between the total SCL-90 scores of Shijiazhuang medical interns and each demographic information element(P>0.05),and significant differences between low, medium and high physical activity levels(P<0.05),and the post hoc multiple comparison results showed that the mean value of total SCL-90 score for moderate physical activity was significantly lower than the other two groups(P<0.05).one-way ANOVA showed that there was a significant difference(P<0.05)in the total HAMD and SAS scores of low, medium, and high intensity leisure physical activities among medical interns in Shijiazhuang, and compared with low intensity leisure physical activities, the HAMD and SAS scores of medium intensity leisure physical activities and high intensity leisure physical activities were significantly reduced(P<0.05);there was a significant difference(P<0.05)in the total HAMD and SAS scores of low, medium, and high intensity occupational physical activities among medical interns in Shijiazhuang, and compared with low intensity leisure physical activities, the HAMD and SAS scores of medium intensity and high intensity occupational physical activities were significantly reduced(P<0.05);there was a significant difference(P<0.05)in the total HAMD and SAS scores of low, medium, and high intensity domestic physical activities among medical interns in Shijiazhuang, and compared with low intensity domestic physical activities, the HAMD and SAS scores of medium intensity and high intensity domestic physical activities were significantly reduced(P<0.05);there was a significant difference(P<0.05)in the total HAMD and SAS scores of low, medium, and high intensity occupational physical activities among medical interns in Shijiazhuang, and compared with low intensity leisure physical activities, the HAMD and SAS scores of medium intensity and high intensity occupational physical activities were significantly reduced(P<0.05);there was a significant difference(P<0.05)in the total HAMD scores and SAS scores of medical interns in Shijiazhuang City among the low, medium, and high levels of leisure physical activity groups, and compared with the high level of leisure physical activity, the HAMD scores and SAS scores of medium and low level leisure physical activity groups were significantly reduced(P<0.05);there was a significant difference(P<0.05)in the total HAMD scores and SAS scores of medical interns in Shijiazhuang City among the low, medium, and high level occupational physical activities groups, and compared with high level occupational physical activities, the HAMD scores and SAS scores of medium level and low level occupational physical activities were significantly reduced(P<0.05);there was a significant difference(P<0.05)in the total HAMD and SAS scores of low, medium, and high level domestic physical activity among medical interns in Shijiazhuang, and compared with high level domestic physical activity, the HAMD and SAS scores of medium level and low level domestic physical activity significantly decreased(P<0.05);there was a significant difference(P<0.05)in the total HAMD scores and SAS scores among medical interns in Shijiazhuang city with low, medium, and high levels of transportation physical activity.Compared with high level transportation physical activity, the HAMD scores and SAS scores of medium and low level transportation physical activity were significantly reduced(P<0.05).Conclusions:(1)Shijiazhuang medical interns have higher levels of somatization, anxiety, and depression factors, and the above psychological problems are related to the level of physical activity, but not significantly related to the elements of demographic information, and moderate intensity physical activity is beneficial to the above psychological problems;(2)moderate moderate intensity leisure physical activity helps medical interns maintain a positive and upward mindset, reducing their psychological pressure during the epidemic;(3)moderate medical service workload will help medical interns in Shijiazhuang better adapt to clinical work and improve anxiety, depression, and other issues brought about by new clinical admissions;(4)frequent and extensive household activities exacerbate the anxiety and depression tendencies of medical interns;(5)medical interns with high levels and intensity of daily transportation activities are more likely to experience mental health problems.
