| With the disappearance of demographic dividend,China is gradually stepping into a deep aging society. The country is in urgent need to discover new economic growth approaches to maintain economic growth rate.Under this circumstance, human capital is of strategic importance. In addition to education, health is an important component of human capital.Health is the foundation of a happy life. With the development of economy,"Happiness theory" has gradually gained popularity among the public.People have a more comprehensive definition of health:both physical and mental health are important. As the new generation groups(People born after 1980 and 1990)enter workforce,work-life balance has also become an important measure of job satisfaction.However,sub-health,chronic diseases, depression, anxiety and other negative health conditions still exist widely in the workplace. It is urgent for all sectors of society to conduct in-depth investigation and improve the reality. There are few studies on health human capital and job outcomes in the past, and the depth of research needs to be improved. At present, there is no complete empirical study on the relationship between mental health and job income, job satisfaction in China, and existing studies on the physical health-work outcome pathway have ignored the analysis of individual heterogeneity. Therefore, this paper hopes to fill in the above mentioned theoretical gaps and provide inspiration and practical significance for individuals and organizational managers.First of all, based on the human capital theory, this paper is devoted to studying the impact of physical and mental health on individual work outcomes(including income and job satisfaction),and comes to conclusion that individual physical and mental health status have a significant impact on work outcomes.Secondly, this paper further expands the health measurement index and explores the impact of exercise behavior on individual income. It is concluded that there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between exercise behavior and work income.Thirdly, based on the main effect model, this paper continues to conceive the boundary conditions and take bad health habits and working hours as moderating variables into the theoretical model. It is confirmed that overtime work has a significant negative moderating effect on the pathway of mental health to work income.Fourth, this paper uses the cross-section data of 2018 Chinese Family Tracking Survey(CFPS).The database has a wide geographical coverage, detailed item setting and sufficient sample size, which provides a guarantee for the credibility of the research conclusion of this paper. The CFPS sample covers 25 provinces, represents 95%of China’s population. The items in the questionnaire are carefully set and the sample size is sufficient, which guaranteed the credibility of this paper. The results of heterogeneity analysis showed that overtime working hours negatively moderate the mental health-working salary model path. However, bad health habits has no significant influence on individual income. This can be attributed to the fact that cigarettes have become a necessity in social intercourse at work.Besides, many people need cigarettes to relieve work and inner pressure. There are usually special places set for smoking in public areas, and individuals who have the habit of smoking generally abide by the rules, which makes people more tolerant to smoking. The results of this study further enrich the human capital theory, and confirm the important role of health for personal career development in addition to education, and the positive role of physical and mental health on work experience and life happiness. At the same time, this research provides a new perspective for employee health management, guiding enterprises to further enhance the attention to employee mental health management.Companies should try to provide workplace fitness conditions for employees and create a fair and just atmosphere in order to help employees maintain a good physical and mental condition; Finally, this paper confirms the necessity of implementing healthy China strategy. |
