Objective:This thesis intends to observe the clinical effect of Yinchenhao decoction plus-minus formula combined with western medicine in the treatment of herpes zoster of hepatobiliary damp heat type.It makes an objective evaluation to form a basis for clinical application and popularization.Method:64 patients with herpes zoster, who meet the inclusion criteria of this study, are randomly divided into two groups, namely the control group and the experimental group, each group with 32 cases. The control group is treated with oral administration of acyclovir tablets, mecobalamin tablets and vitamin B1tablets for seven days till the pain subsides, while the experimental group receives combination therapy with Yinchenhao decoction plus-minus formula on the basis of the control group for ten days.During a four-week observation,follow-up visits are conducted to each group every seven days to observe the changes of skin lesions and record the observation indexes. The telephone follow-ups are conducted on the 45th day after the treatment to count the incidence of postherpetic neuralgia. Results and Discussion:(1)3 cases are dropped out and lost to follow-up,consequently this study has 61 cases, including 30 in the control group and 31 in the experimental group.(2)The total effective rates are 100%as to both the experimental group and the control group. The cure rate of the experimental group is 87.10%,and that of the control group is 63.33%.It can be concluded that the experimental group is better than that of the control group with respect to the cure rate, and their differences are statistically significant(P<0.05).(3)The experimental group is superior to the control group as regard to the time of blister stopping and scabbing.Their differences are statistically significant(P<0.05).(4)VAS scores of both groups decreased after the treatment. The experimental group has lower VAS scores than those of the control group.Their differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).(5)The incidence of postherpetic neuralgia in the experimental group is 12.90%,while that in the control group is 36.67%.The experimental group has lower incidence of postherpetic neuralgia than that in the control group.Their differences are statistically significant(P<0.05).(6)Patients in both groups have no obvious abnormality from the routine health checkups, such as the hematuria and the liver and kidney function during the treatment and the observation period. In terms of adverse reactions, there are five cases of adverse reaction in the control group, and its incidence is 16.67%.Four cases of adverse reaction are found in the experimental group, with an incidence of 12.90%.The statistical analysis shows that P>0.05,which indicates that there is no statistical difference. Conclusion:The therapy proves to be more effective using Yinchenhao decoction plus-minus formula combined with western medicine as it has higher curative rate as well as lower incidence of postherpetic neuralgia, compared with the approach of conventional medicine in the treatment of herpes zoster of hepatobiliary damp heat type. Therefore,it is worthy of clinical application and popularization.
