Objective:With the gradual acceleration of global aging, the metabolism of the body slows down gradually in the elderly people. The ability of insulin secretion and utilization will also decrease. It is very important to monitor the degree of insulin resistance(IR)in healthy middle-aged and elderly people and intervene the progress of IR as early as possible to avoid the occurrence of metabolic diseases such as diabetes. The triglyceride glucose index(TyG),a new indicator of IR,has been shown to be improved by Omega-3 Polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFAs).At present,no study has focused on the relationship between Omega-3 PUFAs and TyG Index. This study was designed to explore the relationship between Omega-3 PUFAs and TyG Index in healthy middle-aged and elderly men. Methods:This study is a cross-sectional study.A total of 120 cases of healthy middle-aged and elderly men who were more than 45 years old in our hospital from October 2021 to October 2022 were collected.People with serious diseases, fatty liver, hyperlipidemia, hyperuric acid, abnormal liver and kidney function, and other abnormal indicators were excluded.Finally,101 cases were analyzed. The basic information collected from the population includes:age, height, weight, blood routine, renal function, blood lipids and other indicators.Detection of omega-3PUFAs:αLinolenic acid(ALA),eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA),docosahexaenoic acid(DHA)and docosapentaenoic acid(DPA).Calculation and scoring related composite indicators:glomerular filtration rate calculated by five formulas;TyG index, controlled nutritional status(CONUT)score.1.The correlation between the sum of four main omgea-3PUFAs and various clinical indicators was analyzed by Spearman bivariate correlation.2.TyG was divided into<8.4 group and≥ 8.4 group. The correlation between TyG and omega-3PUFAs was compared by difference analysis and multivariate logistic regression.3.The correlation between CONUT score and omega-3PUFAs was compared by difference analysis and multivariate logistic regression.4.The correlation between eGFR groups and omega-3PUFAs was compared by difference analysis and multivariate logistic regression.Results:1.There was a negative linear correlation between TyG index and EPA(r=-0.232,P=0.020),but the correlation was weak. There were no significant linear correlation between the TyG index and AIA、DHA、DPA.2.Compared with the TyG≥8.4 group,in the TyG<8.4 group,LDL cholesterol is lower,HDL cholesterol and EPA are higher. After adjusting the relevant covariates, there was a correlation between ALA,EPA,DHA,DPA and TyG≥ 8.4 group(P<0.05),and higher levels of ALA,EPA,DHA,DPA,TyG≥ 8.4 groups are less likely(OR<1).3.The lower the CONUT score(the lower the degree of malnutrition),the lower the age,the higher the white blood cell, the neutrophils, the LDL-C and the level of eGFR calculated by the four formulas(EPI,LMR,BIS1,FAS).Compared with the normal nutrition group, after adjusting the relevant covariates,ALA,EPA,DHA,DPA were correlated with mild malnutrition(P<0.05),and higher levels of ALA,EPA,DHA,DPA were less likely to cause malnutrition(OR<1).4.Compared with the eGFR(EPI)<90 group, the eGFR(EPI)≥90 group had higher platelet count, lower urea nitrogen and uric acid. After adjusting the covariates,no correlation was found between omega3PUFAs and eGFR calculated by five formulas(EPI,LMR,BIS1,FAS,EKFC).Conclusion:In the healthy middle-aged and elderly male population:1.There was a negative linear correlation between TyG index and EPA,but the correlation was weak. There were no significant linear correlation between the TyG index and ALA、DHA、DPA.2.Higher levels of omega-3PUFAs are associated with lower TyG index and lower CONUT score, but not with eGFR calculated by five formulas(EPI,LMR,BIS1,FAS,EKFC).
