Objectives:The study aims to investigate the current status of achievement motivation,resourcefulness,and job burnout among emergency department nurses,explore the relationship between achievement motivation,resourcefulness,and job burnout,and to analyze the factors affecting job burnout among emergency department nurses.To focus on the psychological health of emergency department nurses and to provide a basis for nursing managers to develop intervention measures.Methods:A whole-group sampling method was used to survey 346 emergency department nurses in four tertiary general hospitals and two secondary general hospitals in Changsha from June to October 2021 using the Questionnaire Star electronic questionnaire.Thequestionnaire consisted of four parts:general situation questionnaire,achievement motivation,resourcefulness scale,and burnout scale.After the questionnaires were collected,illogical questionnaires were excluded.SPSS 26.0 was used for data analysis,and descriptive analysis,one-way analysis,Spearman’s correlation analysis,and multiple stepwise regression analysis were performed on the data.Results:1.The detection rate of burnout among emergency department nurses was 69.9%,with a score of(24.62±10.76)for emotional exhaustion,(9.46±6.29)for the depersonalization dimension,and(28.89±8.83)for the personal accomplishment dimension;Emergency department nurses have a median achievement motivation score of 0;and a score of(87.90±19.11)for the resourcefulness of emergency department nurses.2.Statistically significant differences in emotional exhaustion scores by hospital level,age,marital status,presence of children,and job liking;statistically significant differences in depersonalization scores by age,the average number of night shifts per month,and job liking;statistically significant differences in personal accomplishment scores by gender,job title,and job liking.3.Achievement motivation was negatively correlated with emotional exhaustion(r=-0.456,P≤0.01),with depersonalization(r=-0.388,P≤0.01),and positively correlated with personal accomplishment(r=0.246,P≤0.01);resourcefulness was negatively correlated with emotional exhaustion(r=-0.411,P≤0.01),with depersonalization(r=-0.449,P≤0.01 and positive correlation with personal accomplishment(r=0.313,P≤0.01).4.The enjoyment of work,resourcefulness,achievement motivation,and hospital rank were the influencing factors of emotional exhaustion among emergency department nurses(R~2=0.458),enjoyment of nursing work,resourcefulness,number of late-night shifts per month,and Achievement motivation were the influencing factors of depersonalization among emergency department nurses(R~2=0.300),enjoyment of work,achievement motivation,resourcefulness,gender,job title were the influencing factors of personal accomplishment among emergency department nurses(R~2=0.233).Conclusion:1.Job burnout among emergency department nurses was detected at a high rate and was at a medium to a high level of burnout;achievement motivation was at a low level,and intellectual resourcefulness was at a medium level.2.Achievement motivation of emergency department nurses was a negative predictor of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization dimensions and a positive predictor of personal accomplishment;resourcefulness was positively correlated with achievement motivation;resourcefulness was a negative predictor of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization dimensions and a positive predictor of personal accomplishment.Improving the level of achievement motivation and resourcefulness of emergency department nurses can help reduce burnout.3.the enjoyment of work,resourcefulness,achievement motivation,and hospital rank were factors influencing burnout and emotional exhaustion among emergency department nurses;enjoyment of nursing work,resourcefulness,number of late-night shifts per month,and Achievement motivation were factors influencing depersonalization among emergency department nurses;enjoyment of work,achievement motivation,resourcefulness,gender,and job title were factors influencing personal fulfillment among emergency department nurses.
