Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of low frequency electrical stimulation on the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea, and discuss the related mechanism. Methods Fifty volunteers were recruited,40 patients with primary dysmenorrhea in the experimental group and 10 healthy volunteers in the control group. All patients were examined by infrared thermal imaging when they were enrolled in the group. The patients in the experimental group were treated with low frequency electrical stimulation for 3 months: To use low frequency electrical stimulation to promote circulation during non-menstrual period, once a day for 30 minutes, and analgesia mode once daily for 30 minutes for 3 days from menstruation. The VAS score, dysmenorrhea symptom score and body surface temperature of dysmenorrhea related acupoints(Guanyuan acupoint、Shiqizhui、Sanyinjiao、Diji)were measured before treatment,1 month after treatment,2months after treatment and 3 months after treatment. Finally,to evaluated the curative effect of low frequency electrical stimulation in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea.Results1 After 3 menstrual cycles of low-frequency electrical stimulation treatment, the symptoms of dysmenorrhea disappeared in 9 patients(25.00%)after treatment,19 cases(52.78%)were effective,8 cases(22.22%)in the experimental group were ineffective. The overall effective rate was 77.78%.With the increase of the course of treatment of low frequency electrical stimulation, the dysmenorrhea symptom score of patients decreased(P<0.05),and the difference was statistically significant.2 The VAS score decreased with the increase of the course of treatment of low frequency electrical stimulation.the VAS at 4 time points before and after treatment had a time effect(P< 0.05),and the difference was statistically significant.3 Compared with the healthy control group, the temperature of Guanyuan acupoint, shiqizhui acupoint,Sanyinjiao acupoint and diji acupoint was lower than that of normal people(P < 0.05),and the difference was statistically significant.4 Before treatment, the average temperature of Guanyuan point,Shiqizhui point,Diji and Sanyinjiao in patients with primary dysmenorrhea was 30.95 ℃,31.15 ℃,29.32 ℃ and 29.43 ℃ respectively. After three cycles of low frequency electrical stimulation treatment, the temperature of the four acupoints increased significantly. The average temperature of Guanyuan point, seventeen vertebra point, ground machine and Sanyinjiao point was 32.08 ℃,32.06 ℃,30.18 ℃ and30.22 ℃.The difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusion1 Low frequency electrical stimulation combined with non-menstrual circulation mode and menstrual analgesia mode is effective in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea, which can effectively reduce the degree of pain and relieve the symptoms of dysmenorrhea.2 The acupoint temperature of Guanyuan point,Shiqizhui point, diji point and Sanyinjiao point in patients with primary dysmenorrhea is lower than that in healthy people. After the treatment low frequency electrical stimulation, the acupoint temperature can be significantly increased, this may be one of the mechanisms for the treatment of dysmenorrhea.3 The circulatory mode(10Hz 300 ms)may be treated by promoting the circulation of peri-uterine arteries and increasing organ blood flow, while the analgesic mode(50Hz 300 ms)may relieve pain by reducing muscle resting tension.4 Through the combination of medical infrared thermal imaging technology, the temperature of the human body, especially the related acupoints, may be used as a quantifiable index to measure pain, which is worth popularizing and applying.5 The treatment is non-invasive,safe and easy to operate.6 Smart phone can effectively connect the doctor’s treatment plan, patient’s treatment situation, machine treatment process and efficacy analysis to form a closed loop, which can improve the effectiveness of treatment and increase patient compliance.
