Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Sun’s abdominal acupuncture in the treatment of diarrhea-type irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-D),and provide a new idea and reliable basis for the clinical treatment of IBS-D.Methods:Seventy-two patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were collected and randomly divided into two groups of 36 patients each. The control group was given conventional acupuncture, while the treatment group was given Sun’s abdominal acupuncture combined with conventional acupuncture, and the treatment was administered once a day for 6 days, with a rest period of 1 day after each treatment session, for 4 consecutive treatment sessions. The Bristol Stool Symptom Scale(BSFS),IBS Severity Scale(IBS-SSS),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)were measured before and after treatment in both groups, and were re-measured at the one-month follow-up visit to evaluate the efficacy of the different treatment methods on IBS-D patients in both groups. The efficacy of the different treatments in the two groups on various aspects of IBS-D patients was evaluated and the data were statistically processed.Results:1.The two groups of IBS-D patients included in the study were statistically insignificant and comparable(p>0.05)in terms of general information such as gender, age, duration of disease and Bristol Stool Sexuality Score(BSFS),IBS Severity Score(IBS-SSS),Hamilton Anxiety Score(HAMA)and Hamilton Depression Score(HAMD).2.Intra-group comparison before and after treatment: BSFS score,IBS-SSS score,HAMA score and HAMD score were statistically significant before and after treatment in both groups(p<0.05),indicating that the treatment protocol of Sun’s abdominal acupuncture combined with conventional acupuncture and conventional acupuncture alone could all improve the symptoms of IBS-D patients to different degrees.3.Comparison between groups after treatment: The differences between the treatment group and the control group in terms of overall efficacy evaluation and total score were statistically significant(p<0.05)for BSFS score,IBS-SSS score,HAMA score and HAMD score. The treatment group was therefore more effective than the control group in improving the patients’ stool pattern, frequency of defecation, abdominal pain, anxiety and depression status and quality of life.4.Overall efficacy evaluation: Comparing the clinical efficacy analysis of the two groups, the total effective rate of Sun’s abdominal acupuncture combined with conventional acupuncture group was 88.24%,while the total effective rate of the conventional acupuncture group alone was 60.61%,the efficacy of Sun’s abdominal acupuncture combined with conventional acupuncture group was significantly better than that of the conventional acupuncture group, with statistical significance(p<0.05).5.Analysis of follow-up results: There was no statistically significant difference between patients in the treatment group after treatment and at the time of follow-up(p>0.05),and there was a significant difference between patients in the control group after treatment and at follow-up(p<0.001),and the long-term efficacy of Sun’s abdominal acupuncture combined with conventional acupuncture treatment modality was more stable.Conclusion:1.Sun’s abdominal acupuncture combined with conventional acupuncture and conventional acupuncture can treat diarrhoea-type irritable bowel syndrome.2.Sun’s abdominal acupuncture combined with conventional acupuncture has obvious advantages in improving the clinical symptoms, reducing the degree of abdominal pain and distension, and regulating the frequency of abdominal pain in patients with diarrhea-type irritable bowel syndrome, which not only has definite short-term efficacy, but also has better long-term efficacy, significantly relieving patients’ anxiety and depression and other adverse emotions, and improving their quality of life.
