Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhea (IBS-D)(liver stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome). The acupuncture point selection for this experiment is based on "mu he" acupoints combination method. To explore the treatment effect of "mu he" acupoints combination method of IBS-D (liver stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome), so as to establish a treatment program suitable for Singapore environment.Method:To observe60cases of outpatients with IBS-D (liver stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome). According to the corresponding inclusion and exclusion criteria of cases collected, based on the arrival sequence of patients for consultation and with reference to the random numbered table, patients were randomly divided into treatment and control group of30cases each. The treatment group received acupuncture treatment ("mu he" acupoints combination method) session twice weekly upto a total of15sessions, with each session lasting20minutes. Patients were evaluated after1course of treatment (15sessions).The control group was treated with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) recipe known as "Tong Xie Yao Fang", a dose of2g to be taken3times daily for a course of4weeks. Patients were evaluated after a course of treatment. All the data obtained were analyzed using SPSS13.0software.Result:Both the treatment and control group were analyzed for comparability before treatment. Results calculated showed insignificant differences between both groups with gender statistical result (P>0.05), age statistical result (P>0.05), traditional Chinese medicine syndrome statistical result (P>0.05), intestinal symptoms statistical result (P>0.05) and stool assessment statistical result (P>0.05), hence both groups were comparable. The treatment group has a TCM syndromes statistical result of P<0.01showed there was a significant difference before and after treatment. The TCM syndromes score after treatment was significantly lower than before treatment, with obvious effective rate of53.3%,16cases; effective rate of43.3%,13cases; ineffective rate of3.4%,1cases. The total effective rate was96.7%, indicating that the treatment group has significant improvement in the TCM syndromes. The control group has an obvious effective rate of26.7%,8cases; effective rate of66.7%,20cases; ineffective rate of6.6%,2cases, total effective rate was93.3%. Both group showed differences in score difference of before and after treatment with statistical result of P<0.05.Both groups showed differences in TCM clinical effects efficiency with statistical result of P<0.05. Treatment group has a higher score than control group in full recovery rate and obvious effective rate, hence the TCM clinical efficacy of the treatment group was better than the control group. Both the treatment group and control group showed significant improvement in intestinal symptoms after treatment, statistical result has significant difference (P<0.01). Both group showed differences in score difference of before and after treatment with statistical result of P<0.05.In stool assessment, both the treatment and control groups have a stool form of mainly watery, followed by a mushy before treatment. Stool form was mainly scattered clumps kind of soft stools, followed by normal stools after treatment. Both group showed differences in score difference of before and after treatment with statistical result of P <0.05.Results showed both groups has improvement in stool assessment after treatment. Conclusion:In this study, acupuncture under the concept of "mu he" acupoints combination method was used in the treatment of IBS-D (liver stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome)."Guan Yuan","Zhong Wan","Zusanli","Tianshu" and "Shangjuxu" were the main points selected. Results from this study showed that "mu he" acupoints combination method applied in the treatment of IBS-D (liver stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome), can effectively improve its TCM clinical syndrome. Intestinal symptoms and stool consistency. This study shows that acupuncture with "mu he" acupoints combination method and TCM recipe "Tong XieYao Fang" have a good therapeutic effect on IBS-D (liver stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome). Comparison also reflects acupuncture treatment has low side effects and low cost advantage. |
