Objective:In this study,first-episode adolescent schizophrenia patients were selected to observe the effect of both DUP and the concentration of serum Hcy on cognitive function in such patients and explore the relationship between the former two factors and cognitive function in patients.Methods:1.From January 2020 to October 2021,60 first-episode adolescent schizophrenia patients who assigned informed consent were selected from the Third People’s Hospital of Ji’ an as the Observation Group;60 homogeneous healthy adolescents who underwent physical examination in this hospital during the same period were selected as the Control Group. The concentration of Hcy in serum of subjects were tested in both groups, and cognitive function of subjects in the two groups was assessed by MMSE.2.The subjects in Observation Group were divided into long DUP group and short DUP group based on median DUP time which determined by SOS.Furthermore, standardize treatment of first-episode adolescent schizophrenia patients by oral risperidone for 2 months was administrated in the Observation Group subjects. After the treatment course, the concentration of Hcy in serum of Observation Group subjects were measured, and the cognitive function of Observation Group subjects were estimated by MMSE.Results:1.General demographic data between the Observation Group and Control Group subjects were not significant so that those subjects were available compare. Before treatment, the mean concentration of Hcy in serum of the Observation Group was higher than of the Control Group(26.305±6.916μmol/L vs.13.62±2.906μmol/L,and long DUP group was higher than short DUP group(28.74±8.16μmol/L vs.23.87±6.21μmol/L),the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Otherwise,the mean MMSE score of long DUP group was 21.87±7.05,and the mean MMSE score of short DUP group was 24.42±5.76,which were lower than of the Control Group(28.20±0.81),whereases the of long DUP group was lower than of short DUP group, all the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).2.After treatment, the mean concentration of Hcy in serum of long DUP group and short DUP group were decreased significantly(P<0.05)and long DUP group was higher than short DUP group still(14.82±2.743μmol/L vs.12.90±1.704μmol/L),the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Meanwhile,the mean MMSE score of long DUP group was 24.57±1.19,and the mean MMSE score of short DUP group was 24.60±1.91,which were increased significantly(P < 0.05)while the difference between the mean MMSE score of long DUP group and short DUP group was statistically unsignificant(P>0.05).3.The OR of long DUP,short DUP,the concentration of Hcy in serum before treatment and the concentration of Hcy in serum after treatment to cognitive function of first-episode adolescent schizophrenia patients were 2.014(P<0.05),1.098(P<0.05),0.396(P<0.05)and 0.031(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.To first-episode adolescent schizophrenia patients, the higher concentration of Hcy in serum lead severe cognitive function.2.To first-episode adolescent schizophrenia patients, the longer DUP would result out the severe impairment of cognitive function, and worse recovery of Hcy in serum.3.Risperidone could partially improve Hcy levels in serum and cognitive function of first-episode adolescents with schizophrenia3.Both the long DUP and high Hcy concentration in serum would be high risk factors for cognitive function of first adolescents with schizophrenia. |
