| As Germany is a European leading state,Sino-German relations are significant in the cooperation between Europe and China.From late twentieth century,China implemented its “opening up” reform,therefore it has provoked more cooperation with Germany and created a rapid growth of Sino-German partnership.The medical cooperation between the countries is vital for both China and Germany because it is one of the most important aspects of bilateral cooperation.Therefore,the research of this partnership brings large importance for international medical collaboration and showcases how it influences bilateral relations.The research objectives focus on the historical background of Sino-German medical cooperation from 1972 until the present day with a brief explanation of the previous state of the bilateral political relations.This thesis discusses Sino-German medical diplomacy,medical missions,and health policies of both countries.The case studies researched are based upon;mental health,reproductive policies,and gynaecology cooperation.Thus,this thesis studies the Sino-German medical international projects and their significance in foreign affairs.The study also assesses the impact on bilateral relations through the intergovernmental partnership,enterprise cooperation and non-governmental cooperation.The research shows the positive impact of the Sino-German medical union on the bilateral relations,the German medical involvement in China’s projects participation and its significant affection on Chinese citizens,exceptional mental health improvement among Chinese population within German assistance,the Sino-German Post Abortion project vast influence on Chinese women.The author used qualitative method and referred to liberal institutionalism as a main theory of international relations for this thesis research.The thesis studies reveal the existing projects,opportunities,challenges of SinoGerman medical collaborations and their direct support on the bilateral relations development.Thus,the investigation examines the reproductive policies of last fifty years in Germany and China,the German software company SAP “Autism at Work” project held together with Taicang Inclusion factory,mental health partnership during beginning of COVID-19 pandemic and German pharmaceutical company Bayer’s project named “Post Abortion Care(PAC)” co-initiated by China Women Development Foundation.As health is a crucial part of international cooperation and as China and Germany are key players in worldwide healthcare system,the research has found out that bilateral medical projects establish stronger ties between the nations.At the same time,the thesis makes the comparative analysis of reproductive policies and mental health of China and Germany and draws a conclusion through the relative investigation in the fields.The Sino-German mutual medical contribution has exceptionally positive impact of Sino-German medical cooperation,on bilateral relations and each field of this medical cooperation firmly affects socio-economic development in both China and Germany.The Sino-German partnership is primarily an intergovernmental partnership,but mainly is focused on enterprise government cooperation and non-governmental cooperation which play important role in development and formation of medical fellowship between the states.The experience of medical cooperation between Germany and China can also be implemented into Sino-European Union cooperation at post-COVID-19 period.Therefore,it is clear that mutual medical help is crucial for the Sino-German population and by involving more bilateral medical projects it will establish even stronger ties between the nations. |
