The Effect Of Mongolian Medicine Mingmu-11 On Wet Age-related Macular Degeneration

Objective : To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Mongolian medicine Mingmu Shiyi pill in the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration(wAMD)by optical coherence tomography(OCT)combined with multifocal electroretinogram(mfERG).Methods : A total of 70 patients(70 eyes)with wet age-related macular degeneration admitted to The Department of Ophthalmology,Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Minzu University from November 2020 to December 2021 were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,35 patients(35 eyes)in each group were given intravitreal injection of Compaxil 0.05 mL once a month.The treatment lasted for 3 months.The treatment group was given Mingmu Shiyi pills from the second day after injection for 3 weeks as a course,a total of 3 courses,while the control group was not given Mongolian medicine treatment.The changes of best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and central retinal thickness(CMT)in macular area were observed before treatment,3 months after treatment and 5 months after treatment,as well as the amplitude density and latency of N1 and P1 before treatment and 3 months after treatment.Results:1.Three months after treatment: BCVA in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group;CMT was significantly reduced compared with control group.Compared with the control group,N1 and P1 waves were significantly increased,and the latency of P1 wave was shortened,with statistical significance(P < 0.05).2.5 months after treatment: BCVA in the treatment group did not change significantly,but decreased in the control group;CMT was more stable than the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusions:1.The effect of intravitreal injection of Compaximerpe combined with Mongolian medicine Mingmu Shiyi pill is better than that of pure intravitreal injection of Compaximerpe,effectively treating wAMD and macular edema.2.Mongolian medicine Mingmu Shiyi pills can effectively improve visual function,improve and protect vision,reduce CMT,delay the progression of the disease,and significantly reduce the number of drug injections and side effects.
