Incidence Of Suicidal Ideation And Its Related Factors Among Employees In A Bank Of Guangxi

Objective:To investigate the incidence of suicidal ideation and its related factors among Bank employees in Guangxi,and to explore the relationship between the influencing factors,so as to provide evidences for their suicide prevention.Methods:Employees of a bank in Guangxi were investigated online from November to December 2019.A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data including suicidal ideation,sociodemographic information,job satisfaction,job burnout,depression,loneliness,hopelessness,stress,coping skill,quality of life,and family function.Univariate analysis and multivariate binary logistic regression model were used to explore the influencing factors of suicidal ideation among employees of a bank.Furthermore,the relationship between the influencing factors of suicidal ideation was explored by mediation analysis and path analysis.Results:A total of 3,974 cases were collected from the survey and a total of 3,620 cases were included in the study,including 1,054 males(29.12%)and 2,566females(70.88%).242(7.50%)employees had suicidal ideation in the past year,including 69 males(6.55%)and 173 females(6.74%).Multivariate binary logistic regression analysis shows that severe depression(OR=3.461),hopelessness(OR=1.471),loneliness(OR=1.590),stress(OR=1.476),negative coping(OR=1.446)and other ethnic minorities(OR=1.817)are risk factors for suicidal ideation,and positive coping(OR=0.658)and aged over 35 years(OR=0.731)are the protective factors for suicidal ideation.Mediation analysis showed that depression played a partial mediating role in the effect of loneliness on suicidal ideation.Depression played a partial mediating role in the effect of hopelessness on suicidal ideation.Hopelessness played a partial mediating role in the effect of loneliness on suicidal ideation.Path analysis showed that the hypothesized model was that stress level,positive coping style and negative coping style had effects on loneliness,depression and hopelessness and thus affected suicidal ideation of employees,and the model fitted well.Conclusion:Some employees of a bank in Guangxi have suicidal ideation.The influencing factors include depression,hopelessness,loneliness,stress,coping style,age and ethnic group.Depression had a mediating effect between loneliness and suicidal ideation,depression had a mediating effect between hopelessness and suicidal ideation,and hopelessness had a mediating effect between loneliness and suicidal ideation.In addition,stress,positive coping styles,and negative coping styles affect suicidal ideation through loneliness,hopelessness,and depression.
