The booming development of domestic online talent shows,the content and format of the programs are presenting the boundaries,and the diversified male media images are presented in the communication.As an IP program of the 2020 MANGO TV phenomenon "Sisters Who Brave Winds and Waves",it has created a male media image with an average age of 30+,which has attracted a lot of attention on the internet and brought a new focus to the study of male media image.The program's slogan,"Rolling life,cutting through the thorns",gives a glimpse of the program team's efforts to avoid the "greasy" and "daddy taste",and its grasp of the "quality" presented by the they own ages.The "quality" of the grasp.Therefore,what kind of male media image do the brothers in the program present? How are such male media images presented and constructed through visual rhetoric? What are the implications for future reality TV shows? These are the questions that need to be considered and answered in this study.This paper takes the Mangguo TV variety show "Call Me by Fire" as a research text and explores how the show constructs male media images through visual rhetorical symbols and lenses,and analyzes the strategies of presenting male media images in the light of Jacques Durand's visual rhetorical grid.This paper will use textual and content analysis methods to study the 31 male stars in the program.Through watching the program,collecting program materials and combining visual rhetoric theories,we will explain how the program team and viewers construct the visual rhetoric of male media images in the program.After that,based on the visual symbols of the male stars,the three rhetorical techniques of scene rhetoric,scene rhetoric and color rhetoric are used to analyze the presentation of male visual images on the stage of public performances.Then,the article explores the use of the visual rhetorical strategies of repetition,accumulation,metaphor,metonymy and inversion in the program in the light of the visual elements in the male mediated images constructed in the program,with reference to Durand's visual rhetorical grid operations.Finally,it is concluded that in the current visual communication context,the "quality" of the male media image should be emphasized from the presentation of the male stars' own images on the one hand,and from the persuasive identity framework built by the program team through visual rhetorical strategies to achieve visual rhetorical purposes on the other.This paper conducts an in-depth study of male media images in the program "Call Me by Fire" from the perspective of visual rhetoric,extending the visual rhetorical analysis of male media images in variety shows,and also inspiring the creators,providing theoretical support and operable paths for the development of similar variety shows.At the same time,observing how phenomenal male-oriented variety shows construct gender media images and visual discourse enriches the study of visual communication to a certain extent.
