In recent years,female drivers have frequently appeared in major public opinion events.The killing of a male baby by a female driver in Kunming in 2013 triggered public anger.The beating of a female driver in Chengdu in 2015 quickly triggered a wave of public opinion.In the bus crash in Chongqing in 2018,female drivers were attacked by numerous netizens.Female drivers became synonymous with "road killers".However,according to big data released by traffic police departments in Changsha,Shenzhen and Shanghai in 2019,the proportion of female traffic violations and traffic accidents was lower than that of male drivers.The contrast between the image of female drivers in the eyes of the public and the image of female drivers in traffic police data has aroused the author's research interest.At present,the research on female drivers in academic circles mostly uses the method of content analysis and questionnaire survey to explore the image and causes of female drivers,and lacks in-depth discourse research on the image of female drivers.For this reason,this paper takes female drivers as the research object,uses the search function in the people's website,uses female drivers as the key words to search 1854 news items with female drivers in their titles,and takes 309 samples as corpus of female drivers' research through systematic sampling method,and adopts content analysis and discourse analysis to analyze the media image and characteristics of female drivers,construction strategies,hidden values and five problems of image generation.A study on the news reports of women drivers in People's Network from 2013 to2018 found that the number of reports of women drivers in People's Network showed a decreasing trend and reached the lowest level in 2018.The People's Network has adopted the construction strategy of otherness and stereotype,thus creating stereotyped and stereotyped media images of female drivers,i.e.negative images of lack of technology,violation of laws,and helplessness and suffering.These images show the characteristics of mainly negative images,gradual simplification of images,and great differences in the images of different groups of female drivers.Using passive voice,modal system,quoted speech and coherent markers,People's Net consciously emphasizes and highlights the negative image of female drivers,trying to create the image of female drivers who are technically idiotic,despise traffic regulations and helpless and weak.Behind this image is the distortion and deterioration of the group of female drivers by People's Net.This image creation is closely related to the women's right to speak,the collective unconscious role and the suppressed values of women.
